• Texas is 695,622 sq. km.
• It is the 2nd largest state.
• There are over 24 million people living in Texas.
• It is the 2nd most populous state.

• Average summer temperatures: – 26-29°C

• Average annual precipitation- 71 cm
• Extreme weather conditions: sandstorms, thunderstorms, tornados, and hurricanes.
Plants
• Texas does not have many trees, but there are over 4,000 types of flowers.
• Texas also has shrubs, grasses, and cacti.
Animals
• Texas has over 100 kinds of snakes and over 500 kinds of birds.
• Bison, bears, wolves, mountain lions, and pronghorns are native Texan animals.
• Along the coast, there are alligators, fish, oysters, and shrimp.
Name Origin
• The name “Texas” is based on a word used by Caddo Indians meaning "friends"
