Application The automatic Tetra Pak ® Ingredient Doser 2000 A2 is designed for the continuous and accurate injection of fruit pieces, nuts, candies and other free flowing granulates into ice cream or similar products. Working principle The ingredient feeder is a self-contained unit ready to be connected to power and ice cream supply. From the hopper the ingredient is dosed by means of a helical dosing screw into the lamella pump, which gently deliv- ers the ingredients into the ice cream stream. Further mix- ing is done in the inline mixer before the ice cream passes through the outlet of the feeder. Standard design Tetra Pak Ingredient Dosers 2000 A2 comply with the 3-A sanitary standards of the Food & Dairy Industries Supply Association, USA. The ingredient feeder is produced from high quality materials and is engineered to meet strict standards of hygiene, reliability and durability. All parts of the feeder that are in contact with ingredients or ice cream are manufactured from stainless materials. Tetra Pak ® Ingredient Doser 2000 A2 Automatic ingredient doser

Standard designFrame

The frame is a fully welded stainless steel construction with sloped surfaces ensuring drainage after cleaning. Three detachable stainless steel side panels ensure easy access to all parts of the machine thereby facilitating maintenance.

The frame is mounted on wheels for easy relocation and positioning.

Hopper

The hopper has a capacity of 40 liters (10 US gal) and is suspended on weighing cells which are connected to a PLC for the automatic control of the ingredient flow rate. The hopper is equipped with dust cover, safety grid and an agitator that ensures a constant supply of ingredients to the dosing screw mounted at the bottom of the hopper. By means of the loss-in-weight system, the dosing screw meters a constant flow of ingredients into the inlet funnel of the lamella feed pump regardless of ingredient density and hopper level.

Lamella feed pump

The inlet funnel leads the ingredients into the cavities between the lamellas of the pump. As the pump rotates and the lamellas reach the ice cream stream the lamel-las retract and the ingredients are distributed into the ice cream stream. When the ice cream flows into the lamella pump it forms a U-shape that allows the ingredients to be laid gently in the centre of the ice cream. The design of the lamella feed pump provides:

• Gentle treatment of ingredients

• Easy and efficient cleaning

• Quick and simple assembly/disassembly

Inline mixer

Effective mixing of ingredient and ice cream is carried out in the inline mixer, which is placed directly at the outlet of the lamella feed pump and before the outlet of the ingre-dient feeder.

Control panel

The Tetra Pak® Ingredient Doser 2000 A2 is equipped with an operator friendly control system consisting of a touch screen panel and a push button keyboard. The push but-ton keyboard is used to start and stop the following func-tions:

• Agitator

• Dosing screw

• Lamella pump

• Inline mixer

• CIP cycle

The touch screen panel provides clear and easily under-stood information to the operator by means of graphic displays and written text and includes the following fea-tures:

• Adjust and display actual and preset value of ingredient flow rate (kg/h or lbs/h)

• Adjust and display actual and preset speed of feed pump, mixer and agitator

• Accumulated flow (kg or lbs)

• Actual content of ingredient in hopper (kg or lbs)

• Ingredient level in hopper

• Agitator control (ON, OFF or Start/Stop)

Optional equipment• Different types of dosing screws are available according to the ingredients to be used and capacity required

• Spare parts – 3 000 hours

• Spare parts – 6 000 hours

• Pump Lamellas in plastic material

• Magnetic grill for ingredient hopper

• Steel dust cover for ingredient hopper

• Conversion kit

• Y connection for connection to 2 freezers

• Automatic CIP-front cover (additional price) – requires air supply

• Analog 4 – 20 mA communication of ice cream flow rate for e.g. synchronizing of ingredient feeder

• Active ethernet communication package for shared recipe collection, hold, re-start, CIP and synchronizing with Tetra Pak Ingredient Doser

• Passive ethernet communication for production data exchange and adjustment to central computer (not in cluded) according to S88 protocol

• UPS to prevent power failure

• Trend curves showing ingredient flow over time (kg/h or lbs/h)

• Recipe menu

• Maintenance menu

• Alarm list

• Simple communication with freezer

• Alarm for minimum- and maximum weight level in hopper

Pre-set data is displayed constantly on the screen during production and other data can be displayed by the touch of a finger. Preset values can easily be changed during op-eration. An alarm automatically alerts the operator when the hopper requires refilling or if any irregularity occurs, e.g. if the ingredient flow stops.

Automatic weighing system

In order to obtain precise and accurate dosing the Tetra Pak Ingredient Doser 2000 A2 is equipped with an automatic weighing system, which continuously registers ingredient weight loss and automatically adjusts dosing screw speed so that the correct flow of ingredients is fed into the product regardless of ingredient density and hop-per levels.
