The first aseptic packaging was carried out in Denmark in 1913. It continues to develop during the century until the 60’s when TetraPak industrialized it and launched it on a full-scale.

Aseptic packaging consists to kill all bacterias and micro-organisms present in the concerned food (for example, the UHT - Ultra High Temperature Milk). Then, the product is sealed in the package which is bacterias-free.

The package is constituted of multiple layers. It is also sterilized.

But what are the advantages?You can now, stock it without putting it in the fridge. This type of package allows a shelf life between 6 and 18 months compared the shelf life of standard packages like preservation Packaging.

The aseptic packaging are used by pharmaceutical and medical industry, food industry, beverage. Those are the industry that requires a long shelf life, and need their products to be protected better because of their characteristic.
