Test Shot Analysis
This photo the lighting is quite harsh because it makes his face a lot lighter and makes him look a little yellow. This photo I will use for my magazine front cover, as it is a very striking image. I will darken the photo and up the contrast. The black background makes it easier to edit the photo. A disadvantage to the background is that you can see the brickwork. In this photo the lighting is quite good but I am not a fan of the facial expression he is making, therefore I will not be using this photo in my final piece. Another disadvantage is the bricks in the background. In this photo I turned the lights out and turned the flash on my camera, which made the face shine more and makes it stand out more. I did not like this photo because the face shone too much and also the hair didn’t go right in this. For this photo I took it in a dark room with just the flash on and edited it to put in in black and white. I wanted the model to pose like he has done and I wanted him to look like a rock star in some way with the buttons on his shirt undone. The background of the bricks adds effect to the image this time and gives it a raw feel to it.
This photo I wanted the model facing the other way. The reason I didn’t use it was because I didn’t like it when places on my piece and it didn’t seem to fit with the theme of the page. The photo has too much light in it and his face is lit up. Another disadvantage is that you can see the bricks in the background. I decided not to use this photo because firstly I had already used these two models on the other two photos, so it wouldn’t look right if they were used again in the same photo. Also you cannot see the females face from this angle.
