San Pedro College of Davao, considered the best nursing school in Mindanao, was hail as the Top 8 Best Performing Nursing School in the Philippines. And truly, 8 is a lucky number. SPC placed 8 Top-notchers in the said examination.

SPC is also has one of the most numbers of examinees: 500 first taker and 29 retakers. Out of the said number 473 passed with the total percentage of 89.41%. Surprisingly, 93% of the first takers were able to make it that is why being a top nursing school was never a question.

Jeannie H. Bibera, RN, MSN, the Dean of Nursing of San Pedro College expressed her feelings just moments after the results released. “Of course it is very overwhelming in our part, the SPC community. It is a great blessing from the Lord because we prayed for that and our graduates also exerted their effort to meet their goal to be registered

nurses”, stated Mrs. Bibera.

When asked if she has any message to

all the board passers, she said “The Nursing Faculty and the whole San Pedro Community is very happy and truly proud of your achievement. Again,

you have placed SPC on the map. We are very thankful of what you have done to place our level as San Pedro College: a Center of Excellence.”

Mrs. Bibera also stated how proud she was for having 8 topnotchers from

the school. “I hope they will serve as inspiration for the under-graduates especially the graduating class. Keep up the good work!”

As I reflect on the events that happened, one thing is for sure. As long there are people, there will still be nurses.

Performing with them is the ABDC’s Season 2 winner, the Super Cr3w. With their performance accompanied by exquisitely mixed music and over the top cool on-screen graphics, it was over-whelming to be finally a few feet from the Jabbawockeez. The show started with visual poetry-like Audio Visual presentation. The group danced their heart out to music of Michael Jackson, Beyonce, One Republic, even to Psy’s “Gangnam Style” and a lot more. It was just the most awesome Visual Feast for everyone.

Fans also had the

opportunity to have a look on these dance-floor knights behind their masks, which they gave away at the end of the show. They even said that they enjoyed the audiences from Davao as we are the most responsive that they got since their tour in the Philippines. Davao was their last destination before flying back to their home-land and what a great way it was to end the tour.

“We surely had a blast with the recent Jabbawockeez experience which left us hungry for more. Let’s just hope to see them again soon.”

Page 11: TEST ISSUE

Davaoeagle.com started last April of 2012 as a blog site that promotes Davao City including its events, places, and news and a whole lot more. Well actually, DEO also aimed to promote the people from Davao because, as we all know, Davao City is filled with gorgeous faces. That’s

why also at the same month, DEO launched the first batch of Top 100 Faces of Davao. It’s an online voting contest held every month to come up with the Top 12 Finalist that will compose the 100 of Davao’s most beautiful. Top 100 Faces doesn’t only focuses on the physical beauty but somehow appreciates the talents of Davaoenos.

Apparently, DEO gained a lot viewers and fans because of the contest. Sponsors from different

business establishments flee in as well to support the group. This includes Pacific Spa, Zuda Spa, Sound-track Recording Studio, Aero-Tour Services, TGIFridays, Thirsty Fresh Juices and Shakes, Lazada Philippines, Ellesse Italia, La Vida Orchard Resort and counting.

And because DEO promotes the talents and skills of Davaoenos, we paired up with the most talented photographers to capture the beauties of our Top 100 Faces in still photos. Namely they are Patet Fermin of Sweet Pateto Project, JonSum Photographia, and Bria n Dexter Medija of Dexterity. With their keen eyes and fantastic lenses, every moment was worth framing.

And who would forget all the events that DEO organized? I dare you not to. Hands

up if you were present with us during the Fashion Exposure of the Icon+ project with Association of Creative Artists inc. Or did you scream seeing the Cute Boys of Davao during “Versus” together with the Exodus Talent Centre? I’m sure you did. Or how about during the Fashion show at Royal House Inn and Travel. But surely, it was never a secret that you attended lastly the October’s Secret: A Fashion Prophecy with En Bloc Entertainment production. DEO literally

soared high together with Aero-Tour services.

DEO also attended Davao Bloggers events including the Pasasalamat Concert with Sarah Geronimo during SM Lanang Premier opening. DEO also had the chance to meet Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao bloggers through the United Pinoy Bloggers.

Well guess it’s safe to say that Davao Eagle Online is one of the most successful blog sites in Davao City. Our fan page has the most likes and

our blog has the most number of views. We are even consistent in topping the list in topblogs.com.ph. DEO is not a typical blog site that writes online but also extending its services offline.

It was awesome and jam-packed year for us and we are sure that the following years will be as fantastic as this one. We are looking forward for another year filled with new people, events and features. Thank you for being a part of our success.

f rom the clusters of the brightest stars, a few outstanding shined the most.

JM, as commonly called by the public, is a senior student in San Pedro College taking up Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science. He is currently taking his internship and will soon graduate from the said institution.

This multi-talented lad seems to have it all. From being the winner of Mr. Intramurals of SPC to being a performer as a member of the boy group, ICON+, he definitely can ramp, sing and dance. Currently he is affiliated with Glam Model House, AOCAI Management, D12 Dance Crew above the said mentioned.

2012 has been a blast for this dude. His group ICON +Project had a chance to show what they got during their

auditions in Kapamilya Talent Shows such as X-Factor Philippines and Pilipinas Got Talent. He also was the opening act and got the chance to ramp during Vice Ganda’s Fashion Concert.

When asked what does it feels like to be on our list, he answered, “I feel overwhelmed but more than that. I feel inspired to be a better person. I think this kind of acknowledgement challenges me to prove to people that I’m more than just a pretty face”.

JM has high hopes for the future. After graduating from BMLS, he aspires to enter Med School soon. Indeed, he is more than just the pretty face that we see on stage and photos.18

C ontrary to what you may think that a woman loves to be worshipped especially by men, that’s for me a no-no!

If I may quote my gal pal, “We dress up not for guys but for other girls.” So I’d say they follow what the other girl is wearing or they make a colorful statement. And that’s not for the guys to notice.

It’s like in a party. Once, when I parteyed in Hybrid, pabonggahan ng damit. Among women, ganun sila!

Well, they absolutely hate it one another girl is wearing the same. I mean, for us guys, it’s a bit an-

Women and Style from a

Man’s Perspective

noying. So we make a joke out, right? Like, “Nakauni-form kasi kami…”. For gals, it could result in a cat fight.

And yes! I mean, heck if we’re both wearing the same shirt from Bench or Penshoppe. I’d feel “con-cerned” but I’d laugh it off.

I had an experience where a gal pal of mine re-ally went to the CR and cut off the sleeve of her dress and turned it into a tube simply because another gal was wearing the same sleeves.

And one more thing, they’re willing to suffer for vanity. One classic exam-ple is by wearing a high heels. Ha ha! As a result, vanity leads to pain.

I read somewhere that in formal events, mas balot na balot ang mga guys sa damit such as coat, tie, barong or shirt. But for girls, it’s the other way around. And you know what I mean, like cocktail dresses, flowing gowns and so on.

Compared to guys, mas concerned ang babae sa tiyan nila. Perhaps, most of their dresses or fashion emphasize the gut. Hal-ters, tubes, sporting attire, etc. And they do anything to emphasize their boobs and ass. And that’s a fact!

Else why would push up bras, pads and thongs be so sellable?

Yeah right, pa-impress! But well, not necessarily. I mean, for us guys would rather see them naked, right? He he.

It’s more like they also wear those kinky stuff for other girls. I mean, it’s like saying, “Hey look at me. I’ve got nicer tits than you” or “Hey, I’ve got an ass and I can flaunt in.

Well, that’s it I guess.

No offense, ladies… Peace out!

Just 3 main points:1. Gals dress for other gals.2. Vanity is greater than pain.3. Less is more.

The Old Man and My Old Shoes

s a professional, I make it a point to come to office early. Just outside our building, I always see an obviously disturbed and dirty man with almost no cloths on. He would just talk to himself and would just sometimes stare at the skies.A

Many of my office mates are afraid of him. They thought that he would hurt them or that he would suddenly become violent, even for no apparent reason. But I do pity him. As a newly registered nurse who is trying to start a career in the corporate world, my heart bleeds for him. There were times when I see him eating leftovers from the dumpster. Even when it rains I see him just sitting on his old usual place just outside

our building.

I did ask myself: “Why can’t the government do something about this man?” But then again, “Why can’t I?” So what I did I collected some old clothing for the poor man. There was this old pair of sneakers that I really love. It was a gift from my mom. I remember it took me weeks to convince my mom to buy me that pair. And I really love wearing them. They were comfy and they are very fashionable. They look

good with whatever I wore.

But now I can’t wear them at work. Only formal shoes are allowed. So seeing the old man barefooted and full of blisters because of the scorching heat, I hesitantly gave him my favorite pair together with some old clothing as well. When I gave him my stuff, he just looked at me. Without even at the very least acknowledging me, he turned his back on me and continue staring at the skies.

One day, the poor man had an accident. A car accidentally hit him on the road. So Rescue 911 was immediately called. I rushed outside when I heard the siren. There was this old man lying on the street with blood all over. The rescuer tried to take away a plastic bag he was holding. The old man started shouting and cursing. “Don’t take my treasure!” he unceasingly cried. Finally the plastic bag was taken away from him.

I stared in disbelief as tears rolled down from my eyes. All the bag contained was the pair of sneakers that I gave to him.P
