    F rench Language Services and Collections PlanStaff presented the French LanguageServices and Collection Plan to theBoard. The purpose of the plan is toimprove city-wide access to Frenchlanguage collections and servicesthrough: the creation of 10 large French

    language collections strategicallylocated across Toronto

    a number of small collections of Frenchchildrens materials up to Grade 8 located near appropriate schools

    promotion of our services and collections

    modification of collection to moreclosely match user needs

    the creation of new partnerships withFrench language community groups,agencies and schools.

    2003 Operating and Capital Budgets Status The Board was briefed on the Operatingand Capital Budget presentation to theBudget Advisory Committee. The committee requested the following information: a five-year plan at $10 million per year

    for the Capital Budget a report on traffic patterns in Toronto

    Public Library branches information on how the ALA/CLA

    conference will be funded and howother city departments can assist

    comparison of the Library with othercity departments regarding gapping figures.
