Objective: The student w ill produce a tessellation of original design, developed using either an equilateral triangle or a square, w here three symmetrical faces rotate throughout their creation.

3. Assessment Evidence Assessment of student learning is an ongoing monitoring processs done while assisting students in the new learning. The teacher w ill monitor how w ell students grasp the new concepts and assist only as needed as they progress through each step. The teacher

w ill help enough to avoid frustration but w ill not solve every problem for them.

5. Instructional Strategies/Student Activities 1. Fold the index card in half, crease and cut 2. Draw a design w ith a pencil along one side of the card, from corner to corner. Then cut.

3. Slide the cut piece to the opposite side of the card and tape. Make sure not to turn or rotate the cut piece. 4. Draw another design on one of the straight sides from corner to corner and cut. 5. Slide the cut piece to the opposite side and tape it 6. Start Brainstorming. Think about your shape like w hen you see clouds. What do you see in your shape? You w ill have to make

some type of artistic design out of your shape. 7. Place your shape in the corner of your sheet and trace 8. Tessellate the shape across the w hole page 9. Color the patterns created.

8. Ending, Summary/Reflection Final assessment is done by the s’s peers. When finished tessellations w ill be put on display, they w ill be view ed as a very diff icult and complex endeavor, at least to those w ho do not understand how they were created.
