Mid careerThe UK still has a lower skills base than many other countries, with nearly 5 million people of working age without a qualification.
Development programmesWe offer our colleagues training to get on at every stage of their career, such as our Foundation Retail Degree in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University. Last year 12,000 of our colleagues took part in one of our formal development programmes.

School OutreachTesco has piloted a school outreach programme to inspire young people about the diverse career opportunities available in the retail sector, and give them an insight into the world of work. We are looking to roll this out nationwide.
RetirementBy 2050 22.9% of the population is projected to be aged 65 and over.
Flexible retirementWe employ 71,000 people over the age of 50 and 6,000 over 65. We believe in lifelong learning and our oldest apprentice was 71.
