The 6th edition of the TERNUA ALTITOY OPEN in Altitoy 2013 will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of February. Once again, we

intend to surprise you with new itineraries and technical tracks, including ridges and steep corridors. All members of the

team are working fl at out to ensure that Altitoy remains the leading benchmark of ski mountaineering in the Pyrenees.

This year, the fi nish line is placed at the astronomical centre Pic de Midi in Bigorre at 2,877 metres. It will be an ascent to the

fi nish, up this main landmark of the Midi Pyrenees region, holding one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Pyrenees.

The press and general public will be allowed access to the fi nish line. Each competitor will be given a plus-one for the cable

car ride up to the Pic de Midi. We are hoping for a big turnout as this promises to be a spectacular fi nish.

This year 2013, the race promises to be more demanding than ever before, Saturdays leg will include an ascent to more

than 2,500 metres altitude and Sunday up to 2,000 metres.

Track B will also be more challenging with ascents to around 1,500 metres on Saturday and Sunday. Both tracks are to be

completed in teams of skiers.

The latest addition to this year’s 2013 race is that the Altitoy Open will form part of the Grande Course, a challenge that

brings together the most important alpine ski races in the world. www.grandecourse.com

TRACK A

Registration has changed. Participants for track A will now have to pre-register and only after this will we publish the ad-

missions list.

How to pre-register: The only way to pre-register is through our pre-registration form which is found on the web-

site www.kirolprobak.com. We can link you straight to the pre-registration page from our website.

Allocation of places: The tracks are limited to 125 pairs, the organization reserves 50 places which it gives out to those

nominated by sports critics of the Grande Course 2011-2012, the rest of the places will be awarded through a lottery be-

tween the rest of those who have pre-subscribed.

TRACK B

Registration onto track B will only be carried out once registration for track A has been fi nalized. As usual, registration and

payment will be done through the webpage www.kirolprobak.com. Participation will be limited to 125 pairs.

There are two changes with reference to entry.

- To sign yourself up for track A, you must fi rst pre-register.

To save you a place, we will contact the admissions and

then process registration.

- When selecting the participants, will focus primarily on

levels of sportiness and fi tness and the rest of the places

will be given out through a lottery.

- To register for track A, you must obtain the Carte Grande

Course.

As usual, registration for track B will open once the period

of registration for track A has closed.

1º. From the 16th to the 30th of November: The PRE-registration for track A opens.

2º. From the 3rd of December: We will advise you which track you are allowed to register for. The Carte Grande Course is

acquired for 20€ through the website www.grandecourse.com. Perks of this card include participation in sweep-

stakes, discounts that can be used in the Ski station at Luz Ardiden or preference to sign up to the other circuit races

like La Pierra Menta, Mezzalama, Patrulla De Los Glaciares, Adamello .

3º. From the 10th to the 16th of December: Registration to track A is complete. Once enrolled with a place, registrations

that have not been fi nalized or paid for will be given out to other pairs who have pre-registered.

4º. From the 17th of December: Registrations for track B (participants who are not accepted onto track A, will be able to

apply for track B).

This year’s 2013 Altitoy Open forms part of the Grande

Course, the challenge that brings together the most impor-

tant races in the word like La Pierra Menta, Mezzalamana,

Patrulla de los Glaciares, Adamello and the Tour du Rutor.

Due to this reason both the races on Saturday and Sunday

are to be more diffi cult and uneven ascending to more than

2,500 metres altitude on the Saturday and up to 2,000 me-

tres on the Sunday. Track B will also be more challenging

with ascents to around 1,500 metres on Saturday and Sun-

day. Both days promise to be more challenging than ever

before.

Mountain skiing has been centralized in the Pyrenees

for many years now but never before have the

routes been quite so marked out. Both our younger

and older skiers have never before been able to

relax and refl ect without having to look to l’Arèche-

Beaufort. From this, Altitoy was born. Like a spark in

a dry wheat fi eld, from the fi re ablaze in the hearts

of Pyrenean mountain skiers grew an authentic race,

with alpine tracks, unsurpassable surroundings and

a perfect organization. In the two events that I have

participated in, I was able to view the warmth of the

town, the environment and the fraternity of a doubles

stage race. Thank you for giving us the opportunity of

taking part in this magnifi cent race and good luck for

the future,
