Happy New Year Welcome Back! It’s been lovely to get started again in the new year and hear lots of stories from the children detailing the wonderful Xmas holidays that they enjoyed. Last term was our longest of the whole year and unbelievably we are very close to being half way through this year already! We have lots of things planned for this new term, lots of trips and fantastic learning opportunities for all children. We are forging ahead with enriching the curriculum and ensuring that all children get to have wider experiences to support their learning. Y2 are visiting London again next week to see Russian cosmonauts, Valentina Tereshkova’s actual space capsule that enabled her to become the first woman in space. Topics this term are: EYFS- TV treasures over the year  Year 1- Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong  Year 2- Amelia Earheart and Valentina Tereshkova Year 3- The Vikings and Anglo Saxons Year 4- The Romans Year 5- Iron Age to Stone Age Britain  Year 6- The Mayanstour & London (an extra treat).

These topics are all linked in to the National Curriculum schemes of work. We will update our website with a topic map next week, so that you can see what else your children are up to this term.

Monday 11th Year 2 visit Science Museum. Monday 11th Clubs begin. Wednesday 20th Jan- Mark Roberston author - Books available to buy after school. Wednesday 20th Jan- Assessment without levels parent information. 2 sessions 9.15am and 5.00pm. Thursday 21st EYFS Mega maths workshop 9.00am and 3.30pm. Tuesday 26th KS2 SATs workshop 5.00pm. Wednesday 27th SPAG workshop Years 3-6 9.15am and 5.00pm.

PUPIL PREMIUM GRANT (INC EYFS AND NURSERY) The pupil premium grant (PPG) is a government initiative aimed at targeting extra money at pupils from deprived backgrounds to drive up standards. We work very hard with the children, their parents and carers to ensure that this government grant goes to the people who need it most.

The PPG has enabled us to look carefully at the whole school offer for all children and in turn has benefitted every child in one way or another. It is therefore hugely important that if you think you may be entitled to claiming the PPG for your child you complete the forms sent out this week. - This is particularly important if your child is in reception or Nursery
