Term Paper Counseling -  an attempt to match on one-to-one basis a student's immediate research need with service offered during limited time period.

Research Consultation - a librarian's one-on-one interaction with one or more persons, usually a faculty member or student. 

librarian assists with identifying sources of information.

librarian spends at least 10 minutes investigating and presenting advice.

research consultation provides an overview of relevant library resources, and/or an in-depth introduction to one or several resources.

Term paper counseling:

library's solution to the instructional limitations and constraints of the reference desk and the bibliographic instruction classroom.

uses the tutorial method of instruction to provide students with individualized assistance.

Paralleling the four major tutoring structures, term paper counseling has been provided as standalone tutoring, course tutoring, emergency tutoring, and structured tutoring.

It focus on specific information needs , usually librarian gives scholarly books and articles on that topic of the clients.
