Using brain storming activity write the word “solar system” on the board and ask students what comes in

their mind after listening these words. Ask them to write on the sticky notes about what they understand

about rights and responsibilities. Paste the sticky note on the chart paper and paste it on board.

Teachers’ Exposition: (20 minutes)

Describe students about our earth.

Explain them that we live on earth that is a blue giant oval shaped ball.

Describe students the characteristics of earth that makes it unique.

Discuss with students about solar system.

Describe them about other planets of solar system.

Briefly discuss the characteristics of each planet.

Group work: (30 minutes)

In groups, make solar system model. Paint the display. Lay the cardboard box on its side so that the opening

faces you. Sort the plastic foam balls. Sort the plastic foam balls into four sizes. Paint the planets. Cut the

planetary rings and asteroid belt. Glue the rings, sun and planets. Cut and set the fishing line. Put it all

together

Wrap up: (05 minutes)

At the end of the lesson ask students: what is solar system? What are the characteristics of earth? Name the
