The night is designed to celebrate student and school achievement… that will be the focus for the evening. Presentation Night Tonight 6:30pm Galston High School Celebrate Your Child’s Success! Next Thursday you will receive your child’s semester two reports. The report highlights a “snapshot” of your child’s achievement throughout terms 3 and 4. It is important that you praise his/her every effort. Your child may or may not live up to your expectations; keep in mind, he/she will “tune in” to your response, both verbally and physically. Be proud of his/her every success and understand that areas for development will be addressed at school in 2019. Tattling Tadpole Next week will be the last edition of the ‘Tattling Tadpole’ for 2018. The newspaper editions that you receive each term have been of such a high quality and as I do, I am sure you look forward to reading all the wonderful work that is published by our students. Without the hard work of Mrs Lin and Mrs Kaur the newspaper could not happen. Sadly, Mrs Lin will be leaving our newspaper team and we are very sad that she will no longer be guiding the students on the newspaper team. We would like to thank Mrs Lin for all her hard work and for the inspiration that she gave our students that resulted in the creation of the Tattling Tadpole’. School PlanningAs the year draws to an end, many students and parents will begin to think, “Who will be teaching the children next year?” As with previous years, draft plans will be developed, however, we will not inform you about teachers/classes until 2019; our decision is not based on a conspiracy- theory secret society… it is based on the fact that due to potential enrolments during the holidays, any planned structure may change in the new school year and we are still filling teacher positions at this present time. Please do not make appointments to discuss what class your child will be in next year as I do not have that information. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.

What a Wonderful Year

What an amazing year we have had in 2018!!! We have reached outstanding results in terms of our set goals and academic achievements. As an entire school community we can all feel very proud of our achievements. The school has also grown in numbers going into 2019.

Presentation Evening Our Presentation Evening will be held at Galston High School tonight (6th) at 6:30pm. The night is designed to celebrate student and school achievement… that will be the focus for the evening. It is our expectation that all students stay for the duration of the entire assembly and wear full school (summer) uniform. Year 6 boys are to wear their white shirts and Year 6 girls their summer dresses.

We look forward to sharing the achievements of all of our students with you

Gold, Silver and Pennant awards It is that time of the year when students, especially Year 6 are scurrying to gather up their awards and get them into the office to gain their pennant or the next award. Our system is very thorough and every award is entered onto a spread sheet by date as they are brought in. All certificates are entered, as they are now by date. We can then see when your child is to reach their next certificate. This way we exactly know how many certificates your child has and it will be classified as used when the date is entered in the system. You must have three certificates of the same level to receive your next award.

Join Band!

Is your child interested in joining the school band? The school band is now taking enrolments for 2019 and is open to all students currently in years 2-5. No prior experience is required. In Term 4 students will see a demonstration concert at school that highlights the different instruments available for tuition. They will receive a green School Band Program note providing introductory information.

What do you need to do? Return the expression of interest from the bottom of the green note to try a variety of instruments with trained music tutors, to help your child find the instrument to which they are best suited. The results of this instrument trial will be sent home with comprehensive enrolment information. Learning an instrument in an ensemble is a great way to experience the social, educational and personal benefits that music and the arts have to offer! TSA provides a quality instrumental program, with full ensemble rehearsals, great value tuition and rent-to-buy instrument hire. For more information on your school instrumental program, please contact TSA below.
