This is for terms 1 and 2, 2020. It is a great opportunity and promotion for Barb as she extends herself and learns new roles and skills that will be benefit Hahndorf Primary when she returns in term 3. We wish her well in her new role. Nathalie Dunser will be joining us next year in terms 1 and 2 as Finance Officer. She is currently in the role at Richmond Primary and we look forward to her joining the front office team next year. School Uniform During this very busy time of year, the school welcomes many visitors. It is important that the students of Hahndorf reflect their pride in the school by wearing the correct school uniform We have noticed that some students are wearing incorrect tops, shoes and have writing on their hats. There is to be no writing on the outside of the hat. If a hat is graffitied we will be asking students to bring another school hat to wear. In regards to shoes please ensure your child is wearing appropriate enclosed shoes. Sneakers are ideal. If you need clarification, the Dress Code and Sunsafe Policy is available on the website or from the office. Thank You A group of students in room 4 took some initiative one lunch and decided they would go around and collect some rubbish to help look after our school. They did a fantastic job but were sad to report that in one lunchtime they picked up 365 pieces of rubbish. Which is more than one piece of rubbish per student. On a positive note their efforts were contagious and more students joined in later. They are planning on doing this once a week and are hoping that each time they collect less rubbish. Thank you Aria, Isabella, Sienna, Leni, Charlie and Sienna. Volunteers Picnic Morning Tea On Thursday, 5th of December we will hold a morning tea to celebrate and acknowledge the support we receive from volunteers within our school and our preschool community. The morning tea will begin at 11.10am and will be located adjacent the gym next to the oval. From all of the staff and children we would like to thank you for the contribution you make to our school community and hope to see you at our morning tea on Thursday the 5th.

Term 4 Week 7 28th November 2019

From the OSHC Hive….

Our OSHC Newsletter and Program for Vacation Care has been sent home with your child this week. Booking and consent forms are available at OSHC or on the school’s website.

Any new families interested in enrolling their child/ren for OSHC are welcome to contact the Director for a quick chat about the enrolment process and how we can meet your child’s needs whilst here at OSHC.

A child’s enrolment will cease if they have not attended a session of care within an 8 week period. This may affect those children who only attend from one Vac Care to the next. It is important that a new CWA is agreed upon before your child attends a session if this occurs, in order to receive CCS. If you are not sure please contact Sheryle or Helen prior to booking.

Important Information regarding your Government Entitlements

Child Care Subsidy is payable for a child’s absence from

care: Child Care Subsidy can be paid for up to 42 absence days per child, per financial year, and can be taken for any reason, without the need for families to provide documentation. Once a child’s 42 initial absence days have been exhausted, CCS can only be paid for additional absence days where they are taken for a reason defined in the Family Assistance Law. Evidence is required to be kept by providers for additional absences. Child Care Subsidy is NOT payable for a child's absence from care: before an enrolled child physically attends a session of care or after the day the child last physically attends a session of care. Child Care Subsidy will not be paid for absences submitted after a child’s last day of child care.

For more information about absences, please refer to the absences from child care fact sheet. Further information can also be found on the FAQ page.

RECYCLING TERM 4 UPDATE

A big thank you for the continued support with contributions being brought into the school throughout this term.

These funds will benefit Labs ’n Life.

Interschool Nationals

From the 28th September to 2nd October I represented Hahndorf Primary School and South Australia at the Interschool Nationals Horse Championships at Sydney. It was held at the International Equestrian Centre at Horsely Park, NSW.

I competed in Primary Working Hunter and Primary Combined Training and my pony Abbey was very good in both classes which comprised of: led, rider, ridden and jumping, and dressage and jumping.

I enjoyed meeting children from both SA and Interstate schools. The best part was the opening ceremony where we marched into the indoor arena in our State Teams singing our chants and dressed up in SA colours which are red and white, our socks were the best!!

Well the countdown to Christmas

has begun! This Friday we celebrate

the end of the school year with our

School Assembly Picnic. Then next

Friday 6th December, St Nicholas comes to

Hahndorf.

This year a colouring-in competition is being

held in conjunction with the St Nicholas

parade. Pictures have been provided to

students and may be handed back to myself or

bought to St Paul’s Church on Friday 6th

December before the Parade.

A Christmas Tree display will also be set up in

the St Paul’s Hall and will be open for viewing

on the Friday before the parade. The school

hopes to put in several trees, so if anyone has

an old Christmas tree they’d like to donate for

us to decorate, please let Jenny know at the

front office.

Come along to St Paul’s Hall with activities

commencing at 6pm on Friday 6th December.

The Blue Group finished their unit learning about a butterfly’s life cycle with a ‘releasing ceremony’ where we set our beautiful butterfly free into the wild. We had so much fun following and observing the butterfly as it learnt to fly around its new environment. We were lucky enough to see it flutter into the trees and land on a flower where it drank nectar through its straw-like mouth. We’ve also been exploring and challenging our bodies through movement over the past couple of weeks on the soft fall mats; stretching, tumbling, rolling, cart wheeling, somersaulting, jumping and balancing. We’ve learnt a new ‘Colour Rhyme Detective’ game where we are given rhyming clues and need to find the correct rhyming colour! We’re pretty clever rhyming detectives! We were also extra kind when we celebrated ‘World Kindness Day’ two weeks ago.

Red Group children were very excited to see the Monarch butterfly after it had emerged from its chrysalis. We found out some very interesting facts about the butterfly and sang a song about their life cycle. We have enjoyed a visit to the Junior Primary playground to get used to the bigger equipment. We have to grow a bit bigger to use some of it. We are singing our “Down by the Ocean” song for families at our picnic on Friday, we have been practising our performance so that we know our words and actions. We have talked about the roles of performers and audiences and how we might feel when we are singing on the stage. We painted pictures of our family so that we could perform for a pretend audience. Children have continued creating butterfly art with different mediums, learnt a new “Birdie” dance and had fun making sure the garden has been watered on the warmer days we’ve had.
