l Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations As you are aware, we will unfortunately be losing Miss Emily Corcoran at the end of the
year. Miss Corcoran has been appointed as the new Principal of Woonona East Public
School for the start of 2019. Miss Corcoran has had a significant and lasting impact on our
school from the moment she walked through our gates as a classroom teacher in 2016.
Each and every day she has inspired and challenged our students and staff, always
wanting the best outcomes for all. Her passion, drive, dedication and gregarious
personality have been infectious and we have been very lucky to have her as part of our
school. We wish Miss Corcoran all the very best in this new chapter. We know she will
move mountains at Woonona East Public School and they are a very lucky school
community to have her leading them into the future. Miss Corcoran, you will be sorely
missed but we know it is time for you to take on a new adventure at WEPS. All the very
best!
Overdue Invoices This week, overdue invoices will be sent home. We know how busy families get and it can
be easy to forget school payments. It is important that we re-send these invoices as we
have a substantial amount of money still pending. If you have any questions about these
invoices please contact the school office at your earliest convenience. We greatly
appreciate your assistance in finalising these payments.
Book Fair A quick reminder, the book fair will run from this Tuesday November 6 to Thursday
November 8. Parents and students can order on the flyer page or simply pop into the
book fair. The Hive will be open from 8:30am to 9am on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday and again after school until 4pm on Tuesday and Thursday. The Book Fair will
also be open from 6pm before the P&C Meeting on Wednesday evening. These times
are to give parents and carers an opportunity to look at the books with students or on
their own. Please note you can send the money to school with your child if you do not
want to pop in and have a look at the books.
Stage 3 Camp Our Stage 3 students had an absolute ball at school camp last week. An heartfelt thank
you to Ms Wyman, Mrs Pirie, Miss Davies, Mr Nielsen and Maddie Smith who gave up time
with their families to ensure this camp could go ahead. It is always a fun event and the
students had the time of their lives. Take a look at some of the photos in the following
pages of this newsletter to see what our students got up to.
Stage 2 Camp Stage 2 camp is approaching and you can see the excitement in our students faces. Our
students will be heading off to Stanwell Tops where they will participate in a variety of
events such as the giant swing and archery; it is always a memorable experience. Thank
you to Mrs Osborne, Mr Voysey, Mrs Pirie and Ms Wyman who are accompanying our
students to this camp. Please note payment is DUE THIS FRIDAY.
P&C Meeting A reminder that our first P&C Meeting for the term is this coming WEDNESDAY. The
meeting will commence at 6:30pm and will be held in the Hive. To remind families that
the P&C Meeting is on, all children are able to wear mufti clothes to school on
Wednesday for a gold coin donation to the P&C. Please ensure appropriate footwear
(enclosed shoes) is worn. It is important that all students have their shoulders and midriff
covered for sun safety. It would be wonderful to see new faces at this meeting.
Have a wonderful week!
Warm regards,
Principal

n On Tuesday of last week, our Years 1-6 enrichment students went to the
Yallah TAFE Campus. They did this to see first hand, how humans can
reverse their negative impact on our environment. They learned about a
range of innovative eco-friendly solutions such as solar panels, mud
houses, automatic windows and sensor lights. We would like to thank
Stuart Wilkinson for giving our students the opportunity to engage in this
fantastic excursion.

e Last Wednesday, the FHPS Dance Troupe went to KU Preschool in Figtree
to perform. The senior dance troupe performed two dances including
their newest dance, High Hopes. The preschool students all loved the
performance and it was great to see our students enjoying themselves
and having the confidence to dance in front of an audience. A very
big thank you to Mrs Modernel for coordinating this excursion and
hosting the additional rehearsals in her spare time.
The students are looking forward to a few more performances before
the end of the year!
