Dear Parents and Carers,
ThinkUKnow Stage 3 Session
This coming Wednesday, Police Youth Liaison Officer from Wollongong
Police will be holding a Social Media and Online Footprint session with our
Stage 3 students. This officer is also a trainer for the ThinkUKnow
organisation; the organisation who ran an information session for our
community earlier this year. In our society, social media is rife and it is
essential we provide our students with the tools and skills to be successful in
the online world they find themselves in. If you would like more information
on ThinkUKnow please head to this website:
https://www.thinkuknow.org.au/
SRC Induction
Term 4 Student Representative Council students will be inducted this Friday
afternoon, before our SuperStar Awards. Parents and loved ones are
welcome to attend this induction which will begin at 2:30pm. Please note,
due to school camp our Stage 3 students were inducted this morning.
Book Fair
Accompanying today’s newsletter is a flyer detailing our upcoming book
fair. The book fair will run from Tuesday November 6 to Thursday November
8. In the flyer you will find a range of books available and on the back you
will notice an order form. Parents and students can order on this page or
simply pop into the book fair. The Hive will be open from 8:30am and again
after school until 4pm during those days to give parents and carers an
opportunity to look at the books with students.
Stage 3 Camp
Our Stage 3 students are heading to school camp this week and aren’t
they excited! Students and teachers will be heading to Cataract Scout
Camp where they will reach for the sky on the Giant Swing, scale the cliff
wall in Abseiling, navigate the slipper slopes of the Waterslide and conquer
the heights of the High Ropes. We cannot wait to hear about their
adventures. Stay tuned to Facebook for some of the exciting updates.
Have a wonderful week!
Warm regards
Skye Seymour Principal

Stage 1 Excursion to Killalea State Park
Stage 1 had a wonderful day of learning and were engaged in lots of
hands on activities, building their geographical inquiry skills. They drew
field drawings of the main features of the park, created a map sculpture
in the sand discussing bearings, landmarks and ‘birds eye view’ and
designed and created their own gunyahs (shelters) to protect them from
the weather, using resources from nature. They camouflaged and spied
on different types of wildlife that lived in the park, such as black swans,
cormorants, swallows and purple swamp hens. The children listened to
the sounds of nature and saw the habitats of minibeasts in the tiny pocket
of rainforest that is leftover in the park. The children used clay to model
some of the creatures that lived there, using only natural resources. They
also learned about the history of Killalea Park, when it used to be a farm.
Please note: S/S= selected students only
