Presentation Assembly

Our annual 3-6 Presentation Day Assembly was held last Friday. The hall was filled with students, staff, parents and friends as we celebrated our achievements for 2017. Thank you to the students for your outstanding behaviour during the ceremony. Many thanks for the amazing efforts of all staff who were involved in organising and coordinating this event. What a wonderful way to round off a very rewarding and successful year at Milton Public School. Congratulations to Jaslyn who was announced Dux of 2017.

ISE Aboriginal Excellence Awards

Congratulations to Emma, Jack and Chloe who were all nominated for Excellence Awards in Aboriginal Education. Milton Public School is very proud of you.

Book Club Order Outstanding

Did you have a Book Club order that you have not received? We have an outstanding order from Issue 7 with no name on the order form. If you think this is yours could you please contact the office to confirm and collect before the end of term.

Library Stocktake

We are currently working on a major library stocktake and all books need to be returned this week. Please look high and low for any books that may have been lost over the last few years. All returns would be greatly appreciated. Notices have been sent out to students with overdue books.

Did You Know?

Almost 3 in every 100 children have a peanut allergy. Even trace amounts of peanut or tree nuts can trigger an allergy and kill a child. Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that can cause itchy rash, throat or tongue swelling, shortness of breath, vomiting, light-headedness, low blood pressure and cardiac arrest. Tragically, Australian children have died at school from nut allergies. There are several children at Milton Public School who have a life-threatening nut allergy. Our school strongly encourages you to help minimise harm to those students by not sending nuts or nut products to school. Your assistance and understanding is very much appreciated.

Lost Property

Once again we have a mountain of lost jumpers, hats, lunch boxes and drink bottles. All items were left at school this term and are not named. These items will be in the office area to look through and claim until the end of Week 1, Term 1 2018. Any items not collected by this time will be sent to local charities. Please take the time to look through the lost property and take home items belonging to your children.

Transport for NSW students

Transport NSW have made some improvements to their system which now means that students who are progressing to year 3 and year 7 do not need to reapply if they meet the following three conditions: •are continuing at the same school •are residing at the same address •have not been sent an expiry notification from Transport for NSW. The system has automatically validated a students’ ongoing eligibility if they’re at the same school and progressing to year 3 and year 7. Where a student met the new eligibility the system has updated their entitlement and card. If they didn’t meet the new eligibility, they would have been sent an expiry notification. If students need to update any information or reapply, they should go online to https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updateDetails. Applications need to be submitted before 31 December 2017 to ensure students’ entitlements are updated and their current card is not cancelled. If their application is submitted after 31 December 2017, the system will automatically cancel their card and a new one will need to be issued.

School Hats

The warmer weather is upon us, so it is paramount that students wear a blue school hat at all times when outside. As previously advised the school uniform policy requires a broad brimmed royal blue hat, but we have accepted the bucket style hat also. This policy has been developed in line with the Department of Education’s Sun Safe regulations. Students will not be permitted to play on the oval or open areas without a school hat. The bucket hat with gold piping is available from the front office at a minimal cost of $6.00. We thank you for your support.

Ulladulla High School Year 10 Drama

We thank the year 10 drama group from Ulladulla High School for their super drama performances for our K-2 an our 3-6 students. The students had a fantastic time and we greatly appreciate you visiting us.

End of Year—Merry Christmas and

Happy New Year

We come to the end of another wonderfully successful, eventful and rewarding year at Milton Public School. It is amazing to look at how far our students have come and to celebrate their achievements in a wide range of areas including the academic, cultural and sporting areas. These opportunities are made possible by the dedicated staff at Milton Public School whose time, energy, enthusiasm and commitment is to be recognised. This also includes the administrative staff, whose efficiency and highly effective organisational skills are invaluable. To the school learning support officers, cleaners, visiting teachers, canteen assistants and community helpers, your work this year is gratefully appreciated. We wish all our students, families, teachers, support staff, and volunteers a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We hope you all have a safe and relaxing break and will see you back at Milton Public School in the new year refreshed and ready to give it your best once again.
