The children who attended did a fabulous job of becoming familiar with the people and places they will encounter at Toukley Public School when they start Kindergarten next year. The teachers have really enjoyed getting to know the children and believe that this program will assist them to make a smooth start next year. This week we finished the program with a Graduation Assembly and the children loved performing songs for the family and friends who attended. Each child was presented with their Graduation Certificate and enjoyed a performance by Mr Norman and his class. The children are very well prepared and excited to start Kindergarten next year and we look forward to getting to know them even better as students at Toukley Public School. What a great week this has been! We are well into planning for 2014 and teachers have been given the opportunity to look ahead and organise classes, teaching activities and units of learning for next year. This is at the same time as writing Semester 2 reports for their current class. These reports will be sent home on 12th December for Kindergarten to Year 5 and, as always Year 6 reports will be presented at the Year 6 Farewell. This week I have had the pleasure of attending our KindyStart graduations. Both of these events were exciting as I watched our next years Kindergarten perform in front of their parents and so proudly receive their Graduation Certificates. We look forward to seeing them start school at Toukley Public School next year. As one group finish preschool and are ready for school we also welcomed our next group into Kooloora Preschool. Yesterday we had a Preschool welcome afternoon which was for our new children, their brothers and sisters and their parents. This was an extremely successful afternoon which saw our preschool overflowing with excited little faces. Congratulations to all of the Year 5 students who presented their leadership speeches this week to their Stage 3 peers. They were the best I have heard in many years and are a credit to them. The final round of speeches will occur tomorrow at 12.40pm. The outcome of these speeches will be announced at Presentation Day on the 10th December. FIRIES AND SALVOS KIDS CHRISTMAS APPEAL It’s almost Christmas again and this year Fire and Rescue NSW on the Central Coast will be collecting gifts for kids on behalf of the Salvation Army. This appeal has become a vital part of the Salvos’ collections each Christmas. EVERY FRNSW fire station will be a collection point!!! All gifts collected will be handed over to the Salvos in mid December to be passed on to deserving kids on the Central Coast. Firefighters are asking Central Coast residents to drop gifts in to their local fire station and help make this Christmas a happy one for many more kids this year.
