you are involved. We do, however, understand that sometimes things come up. If this happens, speak with

The Kissing Booth (M) – Saturday 20 October in Jobson Theatre A high school student finds herself face-to-face with her long-term crush when she signs up to run a kissing booth at the spring carnival. According to Netflix, one in three viewers have rewatched this new age rom-com which is 30 percent higher than the average movie rewatch rate! Saving Mr Banks (PG) – Friday 2 November in Marden Lounge When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ Mary Poppins, he made them a promise – one that he didn't realise would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. You’ve seen the stage show, now learn the real story behind the making of the Mary Poppins Disney movie. Bohemian Rhapsody (PG 13) – Saturday 3 November at Hornsby Odeon Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer, Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They will rock you! Open air cinema – Saturday 10 November (with special guests, SHORE!) Bring out the bean bags, cushions and rugs and find a comfy spot on Marden Lawn and enjoy a classic movie with some new-found friends. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (M) – Lazy Sunday Afternoon, 11 November in Marden Lounge Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne – yes Eddie Redmayne!!!) arrives in New York to pursue his work promoting the care of magical creatures but finds himself drawn into a conflict between the wizarding world and witch-hunters. Reconnect with your inner wizard in preparation for your upcoming adventure to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald next Friday. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (M) – Friday 16 November at Hornsby Odeon Enjoy the second instalment of the series of films based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, one of the companion books to J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is a direct sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and is the tenth film set in the wizarding world. Home Alone (PG) – Friday 30 November in Marden Lounge When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister plays up the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. Kids in the Kitchen Tantalise your taste buds and create your own culinary sensations – brownies, choc chip cookies and many other delicious treats are only a wooden spoon away. Snacks for the Open Air Cinema experience are definitely on the menu but why not also bring in your favourite recipe and show us how it’s done! Creator Series Tap into your left brain and get busy creating a range of useful and beautiful items. The focus this term will be on beautiful and edible decorations for our Christmas trees. With a special workshop with Anne Tucker on Sunday 18 November. Pymble Ladies’ College presents: Mary Poppins starring Pymble Boarders – 25 to 28 October in the GMCPA A star is born, well several actually! Come to the GMCPA to see the fabulous Mary Poppins staring our very own Abigail Ballhausen and featuring the equally amazing Ellie Buchanan, Annabelle Richens and Nikita Wong. You will be supporting your school, your fellow boarders and you will have a great time. Chat with your House Supervisors today about a group booking. (Hint: Abby is NOT in the Saturday matinee performance)

Explore Sydney Markets and Shoppers’ Heaven! Sydney is home to an array of fabulous markets and amazing shopping centres just waiting to be explored. Take your pick! Glebe Markets – Saturday 27 October Drop into Glebe Markets and find a treasure or sample our gourmet foods while relaxing on the lawn and listening to the live bands. In days when recycling is a way of life, Glebe is a great place to find recycled fashion, CDs and books. You never know what treasures your rummaging fingers may turn up.

The Kirribilli Art, Design & Fashion Market – Sunday 11 November

This market has a vibrant atmosphere with great live music and international food. The Burton Street Tunnel exclusively features Artisan-made products with the Green and Gravel areas featuring fashion stalls and much, much more. Our Marden girls have found many a bargain here, just ask Year 9!

Manly Unlocked – Saturday 24 November Enjoy the spring sunshine and take the Manly ferry to enjoy spectacular harbour and ocean views. Once you are there take a stroll around the markets or along the iconic beach front. Or Christmas Tree Felling – Saturday 24 November Hop on the bus and head for Dural to choose a Christmas tree for our Houses. Learn the subtle art of negotiation to find the best tree for your House. Which wins – height or width? Boarders’ Shopping night at Chatswood Shopping Centre – Thursday 29 November Pop on the train and head off to Chatswood to wrap up your Christmas shopping. Enjoy the spoils of Chatswood Chase and/or Westfield and maybe even a photo with Santa. DFO Shopping Trip – Saturday 31 November And just in case you missed out on Thursday, or even if you didn’t! Laser Tag and Bowling with Kings – Friday 26 October Laser tag will have you caught up in the world of virtual shoot-outs, elaborate settings and tense ambushes, and who doesn’t love a game of ten pin bowling? Make new friends and unlock some skills you didn’t know you had when you visit Strike at Chatswood. North Sydney Pool – Sunday 28 October and 17 November Here by popular request – enjoy a swim with the best view in Sydney. The Olympic Pool is a swimming and exercise complex located adjacent to Sydney Harbour at Milsons Point in North Sydney between the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park. The pool has a rich heritage including 86 world records being set at the pool by such swimming greats as Jon and Ilsa Konrads, Lorraine Crapp, Shane Gould and Michelle Ford. See if you can break a record! Teppanyaki just for Year 9! – Friday 2 November Teppanyaki is a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. It is highly interactive, lots of fun and delicious. Note to self: do not wear best clothes! Palm Beach to Barrenjoey Lighthouse walk and swim – Sunday 4 November This is a fantastic outing for those wanting a great walk on Sydney’s northern beaches. Features of this track include views of the central coast, Palm Beach and the South Pacific Ocean as well as the historic remnants of old lighthouses. Ask Albert to pack you a picnic and cool off with a swim at Palm Beach. Barefoot Bowls with Knox Grammar School – Friday 23 November Once the realm of social seniors in Napisan-clean whites, lawn bowls is enjoying a revival! Enjoy a fun evening in great company on one of our local ‘greens’ and see who can come out the champion! Blue Mountains Day Trip – Sunday 25 November The Blue Mountains is a rugged region west of Sydney in Australia’s New South Wales. Known for dramatic scenery, it encompasses steep cliffs, eucalyptus forests, waterfalls and villages dotted with guesthouses, galleries and gardens. Katoomba, a major town in the area, borders Blue Mountains National Park and its bushwalking trails. Echo Point affords views of the storied Three Sisters sandstone rock formation. If you haven’t been, this is a must see!! Surfing – Sunday 2 December Due to popular demand! Head off on the Pymble bus and come back a changed young woman! Learn the (almost) uniquely Australian sport of catching a wave in this one-day course at one of our best beaches. Boarders’ Christmas Party – Monday 3 December Let’s celebrate a fabulous year with a fabulous Christmas party! Join all your Boarding sisters and the House Staff to bid a fond farewell to Boarding for 2018. Enjoy the Kris Kringle, make sure you pop into the photo booth and try out the karaoke machine (if Mrs Burgess has her way!). Most importantly, congratulate yourself on a great year.

And over to you… Organise a sleepover We would love you to invite a friend from the Day School to stay over on a Friday or Saturday night. Propose some dates to your House Supervisor and make it happen! Or better still… Invite up to five of your friends from the Day School in for a pizza and movie night.
