It was a wet start to the term but lovely to see some back up soaking rain after last month’s glorious rain. The school and surrounding areas are a sea of green. On Monday 29 th April, we will be holding an ANZAC Parade at 2pm to commemorate this important day in our calendar. All are welcome to attend. I am looking forward to another Term of relationship building and great learning here at Mistake Creek State School. Canberra Trip: Final payments are due now. The final date for payment is the 9 th of May. If not paid by then students will not be able to attend the camp. Principal’s UpdateHello Everyone,

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Easter Holidays. It was a wet start to the term but lovely to see some back up soaking rain after last month’s glorious rain. The school and surrounding areas are a sea of green.

Currently our attendance sits at 86.83% This time last year we were sitting at 96.5%.Our target goal is 95%.

Regular school attendance will mean that your child gets a better chance at life. Your child will achieve better when they go to school all day, every school day:• they learn better• they make friends• they are happier• they have a brighter future.

Illness, doing work experience, competing in a school sporting event or going on a school excursion are reasonable excuses for being absent from school.

Avoid keeping your child away from school for: birthdays, shopping, visiting family and friends, if they sleep in, looking after other

children, minor check-ups or care such as haircuts.

Routine medical or other health appointments should be made either before or after school or during the school holidays.udent achievement.

Homework and home readers will be handed out to students every Monday. It is expected that this work (including their home readers) will be returned each Friday. This term for years 3-6 we will be alternating between one week having a maths worksheet and the next a reading comprehension sheet.

Clermont Show

The theme for Clermont Show 2019 is

‘Nature Through the Seasons’Seasons are periods of the year distinguished by certain climate conditions. We can observe these seasons through

changes in the flora and the weather. Seasonal changes effect food, clothing, shelter, activities and events.

The students will be doing the following in class time as part of our ARTS program for the display at the show:

1. Grade 1 Model (Technology) – Create a model of a bug using recycled materialsMedium – Mixed media including recycled materialsMaximum size –30cm

2. Grade 2 Acrostic Poem (English)Write an acrostic poem using the word ‘NATURE’ with an illustration Medium – HandwrittenSize –A4
