We hope that you were able to enjoy a relaxing Easter and quality family time during the school holidays. Times have been incredibly difficult, with much uncertainty ahead. We returned to school with a ‘phased’ approach, with Week 1 and 2 continuing in the same model as the end of Term 1. From Week 3 students will return on their rostered day, one day per week. The outline for this was emailed to families yesterday with your children’s scheduled days and specific information regarding social distancing and what to bring. Please ensure you have read this note extremely carefully prior to the beginning of next week. We thank you for your continued support by assisting your children to engage in online learning. We are here to help and on this journey with you all the way. Please remember that if you have any concerns, contact the school via phone, email or message relevant teachers via Class Dojo during the times indicated in the Phase 0 note that was sent out last week. Last day of Term 1 - Easter Bunny Run On the last day of school we had a visit from a very special guest who tasked us with the delivery of Easter Eggs for all our students! The Easter Bunny left a note with specific instructions (as well as a few other little surprises!) so we took up the challenge. The teachers had a wonderful time delivering to our families and seeing our students in person after missing them terribly for the last few weeks of term. We were very impressed with the fabulous Easter hat designs we saw in our travels, so much so we had to give all participating students a prize! We would like to thank you for the lovely messages, notes and surprises that we received in our travels. We do feel extremely lucky to be part of our wonderful Bilpin community. Boomerang Boxes Work for Week 3 and onwards, will be dropped off to your homes on Friday 8 th May. We kindly ask that your Boomerang Boxes are put on or near your letterboxes with completed work by midday on this day so that work can be collected for marking and replaced with new work. A message will be posted to Class Dojo when we are about to leave and another message will be posted when we have returned to school so that you know to check your boxes. Wellbeing support We are very lucky to have Ms Sheila Zaman our School Psychologist and Mrs Rose Glassock, our Network Specialist Facilitator and Psychologist available for support during these difficult times. Ms Zaman is available on Wednesdays during odd weeks and Mrs Glassock is available Fridays during even weeks. Both ladies are available for phone support whilst COVDI-19 restrictions are in place. If you feel that your children are experiencing difficulty processing their feelings or if you need support or advice and would like to make a phone appointment, please contact the school so that arrangements can be made. Mother’s Day This Sunday, May 10, is a very special day for our mums, nans, aunts and the other special ladies in our lives. The past 8 months have been really tough for our Bilpin families for many reasons and our mums have had a lot to carry on their shoulders. We would like to say a big thank you our mums, nans, aunts and special ladies and acknowledge the amazing job they do each day! Happy Mother’s Day!

CLASS NEWS

CLASS K/1/2 - Ms Wheen & Mrs McCloy

Congratulations to all our K/1/2 students and parents for the incredible effort they are putting into their distance learning. We have been really fortunate that our parents are offering such amazing prompts and positive feedback to the students during their learning. Whilst we have been watching the Seesaw videos it has been wonderful to see these interactions as they are so special to witness as teachers.

Thank you for working with us during these unusual times. The feedback we have received from families has been very encouraging and helpful.

This term in writing we are focusing on writing 'Sizzling Starts'. Here is a WAGOLL (what a good one looks like). This piece was submitted by Alby and it is effective because it immediately grabs the reader's attention. It is humorous and exciting. Using a sound to begin your writing is a great way to create a sizzling start.

In Maths we are learning about Australian currency and time. Learning how to read a clock and a calendar can be tricky so now is a great opportunity to practice every day with mum and dad.

The Kindergartens are making an awesome effort placing their letters correctly when writing their sentence a day. Year 1 and 2 have been applying excellent punctuation to their work which is very pleasing to see. Well done K/1/2.

CLASS 3/4 – Ms Leer & Mrs Carroll

Hi everyone and welcome back to Term 2! We hope that you all had a wonderful holiday. We are starting off the term with our online learning. Classwork is available in Google Classroom and we also have sent home a copy of all the work for Weeks 1 and 2 in the Boomerang Boxes. It is important that students complete their work, log in each day and always complete their work to the best of their ability. We understand that sometimes you may not be able to access something, just do what you can. We have been missing seeing everyone in person but have enjoyed our Microsoft Teams meeting catch ups. If you do have any problems don’t hesitate to message through Class Dojo, Google Classroom or ring the school. Thinking of you all and looking forward to seeing you all soon.

CLASS 5/6 – Mrs Mackie & Mr Hynds

Welcome back to Term 2! We would like to congratulate you all on your amazing efforts at settling back in to online learning! We know that the end of last term was a steep learning curve which you tackled so quickly. We would like to thank your parents and carers for doing such a fabulous job helping you at home! This weekend we celebrate a very special day for mums, grandmas and aunties. That’s right, it is Mother’s Day! We have set you a number of activities for Mother’s Day to ensure that mums don’t miss out on getting spoilt! Your kit was delivered to you yesterday. Feel free to come up with your own ideas too! A few reminders about learning online; 1. Check in on Class Dojo by either logging in yourself or getting a parent to let us know. Or say hi in the Daily

Question on Google Classroom. 2. Don’t panic if you can’t find something – it is probably there. Just make sure you check! If the internet plays

up you can always catch up later in the week. 3. Don’t forget if you are having trouble to ask a question via Google Classroom or during our video link ups in

Microsoft Teams. We will be delivering new work after lunch on Friday 8th May so make sure Week 1 and 2’s work is completed and and stored in yoou Boomerang Box ready for collection. Keep up your fantastice efforts and we look forward to seeing you on your days from next week!
