‘Go to sleep Jessie!’ Written by Libby

MONDAY NEWS ITEM 09/03/2015

Wilvandee Sports Carnival at Ivanhoe

The first Wilvandee Sports Carnival for this year was hosted by our school on Thursday - Friday, the 5th - 6th March. Students from our

sister schools in Menindee and Wilcannia competed with our Years 4-10 students in the sports of basketball, oztag and newcombe ball.

It was pleasing to witness the good sportsmanship of all participating students in healthy competition and friendly rivalry. The visiting

students are to be congratulated for their exemplary behaviour. They were a credit to their schools and the teachers who accompanied

them. Similarly, the hospitality displayed by our students as hosts, as well as their overall caring and cooperative behaviour, was hearten-

ing to note.

Wilcannia won the competition from Menindee and Ivanhoe. Well done to all of the students who participated. The following students

were judged to be the best and fairest in their respective divisions for Ivanhoe:

Grace Lindberg - Primary Girls

Cooper McMaster - Primary Boys

Zamia Clark-Baldock - Secondary (Girls & Boys)

We acknowledge and appreciate the participa-

tion, efforts and cooperation of all of the visit-

ing students and their accompanying staff members. I would like to record a special note

of appreciation to our parents/community

members, James Kennedy (Westy) and Jamie

Hughes, for their valuable assistance in cook-

ing the BBQ for tea on Thursday.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank all Ivanhoe students, teachers and ancillary staff, parents/caregivers and other community vol-

unteers for their contributions in making the 2015 Wilvandee Sports Carnival at Ivanhoe such a resounding success.
