Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to all the families who attended our School Community meeting and barbecue last

Thursday afternoon. It was wonderful to see and chat with everyone at this social occasion. I would

also like to thank Gavin from NSW Health who came to the meeting and gave us information about

establishing a canteen at our school. Please look for a survey in your child’s school bag this week

regarding this topic.

A big thank you to Andrea (Emily & Jacob’s mum) for coming to the school and covering books last

week. If you would like to help us cover books, please contact the school.

BONVILLE ADVENTURE CENTRE EXCURSION

Students in Years 3-6 have been invited to join other small schools in the Orara Valley to go to the

Bonville Adventure Centre on an excursion. This activity will be held on 27th – 29th May 2020 and

will cost approximately $250 per student. I am seeking feedback from families of students in Year 3-

6 to determine whether we commit to this event. I understand that the cost and the early dates may

be problematic for some families. Students will given a short survey to bring home this. Please

complete the survey and return it to the school as soon as possible.

SWIMMING

Last week was a very big week of Swimming Carnivals. The Coffs Harbour District Swimming Carnival

was held on Tuesday 25th February and the Mid North Coast Swimming Carnival was held on

Thursday 27th February. Myah, Billy, Charlie, Charli, Jesse, Jonah, Oliver, Sienna, Lexus and

Poppi-Anna attended the Coffs Harbour District carnival.

Congratulations to our Small School Relay team. Sienna, Charlie, Oliver and Charli competed at the

Mid North Coast Swimming Carnival in Coffs Harbour last Thursday receiving a second-place ribbon.

They will compete at the North Coast Swimming Carnival in Coffs Harbour on Wednesday March 4th.

All the staff and students at Upper Orara Public School wish them the best of luck.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY

Last Friday students put on their gloves and searched the school for rubbish as part of Clean Up

Australia Day. We are very happy to say that the amount of rubbish students collected was minimal.

We have a very clean playground and students who take pride in their school. Well done everyone!

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN K-2 WITH MRS CLARK

In Mathematics the students have been participating in lessons about mass. The students have

been using scales to weigh items in the classroom to make equal weight on both sides.

We have also been learning about families and how all our families are different.
