Leonie Byrne, Principal

This is the final newsletter for Term 1 so I’d like to wish everyone a safe Easter break, a staycation, as we are directed by the authorities to stay at home.

Please keep an eye on the Tamworth South Public School Facebook page as this is where I will post the latestinformation about school for next term.

As you would be aware the State Government has stated that if staff can do so they should work from home. At Tamworth South we have developed a roster system for staff who attend onsite some days and work remotely on others. This allows staff to continue professionallearning and to work on Remote Learning Packages for the students. I would like to thanks the parents who have kept their children at home as this allows us to manage social distancing requirements to keep the children attending and staff safe. I also understand that for some parents this is not possible.

I hope everyone is looking after themselves physically and emotionally. The past few weeks have been difficult on many levels for schools and society as a whole.

The high level of uncertainty around COVID-19 has caused increased anxiety for many of us. In particular our children may be finding the situation confusing and may not understand what is going on. They will have a sense that something is significantly wrong.

Please keep an eye out for changes in behaviour that may indicate your children are anxious and seek some support if you are worried.

We Are All In This Together

STAGE 1

FUN WITH LEGO!

Our Stage 1 children were set a task of designing and building a 2 bedroom-house complete with kitchen, bathroom, lounge and laundry.

Loads of fun was had by all as the houses came to life with LEGO. As you can see by the designs and proud smiles, we may just have some future budding builders and architects!

Mirri our school Mascot

'MIRRI'With the end of Term 1 and the Easter school holidays fast approaching our star mascot Mirri wandered around the school on an exciting expedition, searching for students who were consistently following our school expectations.

At Tamworth South we are Respectful, Responsible and Safe to be Successful.

This week's focus and goal was to be SAFE, both in the classroom and in the playground. Being safe has never been more important than it is right now.

The following students were caught: washing their hands regularly for 20 seconds, coughing or sneezing into their elbows, avoiding close contact, and social distancing at least 1.5 metres.

We congratulate Bailey Rickard, Maddison Apps and Madeleine Kensell from the Infants' department; as well as Andrew Kensell, Jayden Doyle and Michael Kinnane from Primary for your amazing efforts. You are all super stars and fantastic role models for our school.

Each of these students were presented with a super cool surf wallet containing $5 worth of canteen vouchers and enjoyed a fun visit with Mirri, as seen in these photos.

Mirri also caught up with a few of the teachers and shared some quality learning time.

Mrs Roser-Whitney and Mirri demonstrated what social distancing looks like to Stage 3:

arms out straight and still not able to touch.

Mirri enjoyed some SAFE Air Hi-Fives with Mrs O'Sullivan

Mirri also thanked Mrs Batho for always smiling and supporting

others.
