NATIONAL HEADLINES } Tennessee State received a vote in the Associated Press Top 25 on Monday, Nov. 21. } TSU is also ranked 20th in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, released on Nov. 21. } For the Tigers, which ranked 24th for one week a season ago, it is their third ranking in the Mid-Major Poll. } The 20th ranking is also the highest for TSU in program history for the Mid-Major Poll.

LAST TIME OUT } TSU earned a 72-58 road victory at Canisius on Nov. 23 behind double-doubles from Wayne Martin (14 points, 14 rebounds) and Jordan Reed (13 points, 11 rebounds). } Tahjere McCall (14 points) and Delano Spencer (12 points) also scored in double figures for the Tigers.

ABOUT REINHARDT } The Eagles (NAIA) are 7-1 on the season under fifth year head coach Jason Gillespie. } Reinhardt has won three in a row and is coming off an 88-81 win over Allen on Nov. 22. } Reinhardt, which averages 89.5 points per game, has four players scoring in double figures led by 15.4 points per game from Justin Bridges.

EARLY SEASON VICTORIES } TSU is 5-0 for the first time since joining Division I prior to the 1977-78 season. } The Tigers had never gone 3-0 when its first three opponents were D1 prior to this season.

MILESTONE WATCH } Redshirt senior guard Jordan Reed is six points away from scoring 1,000 for his Division I career. } Reed (994 points) has 63 points in his TSU career after scoring 931 in three seasons at Binghamton. } Redshirt senior guard Tahjere McCall is 140 points away from scoring 1,000 in his D1 career.} McCall (860 points) has 530 points for TSU after 330 points for Niagara in two seasons.

OVC HONORS THIS SEASON } On Monday, Nov. 21, redshirt senior guard Jordan Reed was named OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week after putting up 23 points and nine rebounds in a road win at Middle Tennessee. } Jordan Reed is tied for sixth among active NCAA D1 players with 24 career double-doubles.} Redshirt senior guard Tahjere McCall earned OVC Player of the Week on Nov. 14 following his performance at the Cable Car Classic, leading TSU to a 3-0 record.

DOUBLE-DOUBLES } Wayne Martin has three double-doubles on the season - vs. UC Davis (19 p, 15 r); at MTSU (22 p, 13 r); at Canisius (14 p, 14 r)} Jordan Reed, who had 23 double-doubles while playing at Binghamton, had a double-double at Canisius (13 p, 11 r).

NO SUBSTITUTION FOR EXPERIENCE } TSU’s starting lineup features three fifth-year seniors in Tahjere McCall, Wayne Martin and Jordan Reed. } The average age of McCall, Martin and Reed is 22 years and 5 months.

DOWN LOW } Through five games, TSU has yet to be outrebounded and has outrebounded opponents by an average of 10.0 boards per game. } The Tigers have scored 160 points in the paint (32.0 ppg) and is outscoring opponents by an average of 14.8 points per game in the paint.

DEFENDING WITH YOUR HAIR ON FIRE } At Head Coach Dana Ford’s introductory press conference, he promised his players would “defend with their hair on fire and rebound like mad men.”} TSU led the OVC with a .413 defensive field goal percentage in 2015-16 and Tahjere McCall earned OVC Defensive Player of the Year. } TSU again leads the OVC, holding opponents to .372 percent from the field. } Since Ford began prior to the 2014-15 season, TSU is 22-18 when allowing fewer than 70 points and is 8-19 when allowing more than 70 points.

THE GENTRY CENTER } TSU’s on campus facility, the Gentry Center, seats 10,500 and is the largest basketball facility in the Ohio Valley Conference. } Built before the 1980-81 season, TSU has gone 253-169 (.600) at the Gentry Center. } TSU is 16-11 at home under Dana Ford and tied the school record for single-season wins at the Gentry Center with 11 in 2015-16.

PRESEASON INFORMATION } Redshirt seniors Tahjere McCall and Wayne Martin were selected as Preseason All-Ohio Val-ley Conference by the conference’s coaches and sports information directors. } As a team, Tennessee State was picked second in the East Division in the OVC Preseason Media Poll. } In the OVC Coaches Poll, TSU was also picked second in the East Division while picking up six first-place votes for the East Division and six overall first-place votes.
