Temporary Residents Admissions Centre Application Process Temporary Residents Admissions Centre (TRAC) Bridging Visa application process A bridging visa is a temporary visa granted by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) while an applicant is waiting for the outcome of their longer term visa application. A TRAC application form should be completed for each school-aged child and submitted to the TRAC with the following documentation: o Copy of the parent/legal guardian’s passport title page (translated into English by a certified translator) o Copy of the child’s passport title page (translated into English by a certified translator) o Copy of eVisa/DHA Visa Grant Notification Letter o Copy of previous Visa o TRAC school acceptance form (if available) Upon confirmation of the application, TRAC will issue an invoice for payment. TRAC will issue a receipt for payment and send a TRAC application acceptance email. Students on bridging visas must complete the TRAC application process and pay the relevant fees prior to commencing their enrolment at a Queensland state school. It is the parent's responsibility to contact the School Principal of the nominated Queensland state school to complete the school enrolment process, once the TRAC application acceptance email is received. TRAC dependant student application process TRAC accepts applications for the enrolment of dependant children of international students studying in Queensland institutions of education and training. Parent obtains a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from their education provider. Education provider and/or parent complete the TRAC application form. The form is forwarded to TRAC with the following documentation: o Copy of the parent/legal custodian’s passport title page (translated into English by a certified translator) o Copy of the child’s passport title page (translated into English by a certified translator) o Copy of parent’s Confirmation/s of Enrolment (CoE/s) o Evidence of parent’s scholarship (if applicable), include all relevant documents o Copy of eVisa/DHA Visa Grant Notification Letter o TRAC school notification form (if available) TRAC processes the application and sends an invoice for tuition fees to the family (if applicable). Upon receipt of the initial payment, TRAC issues a receipt, TRAC application acceptance email and a School acceptance form to the applicant. Can I start before the commencement of my parent’s course? In cases where the school term begins before or finishes after the course dates on the parent's CoE, dependant children are permitted to commence school earlier and/or finish school later as long as the parent/s and dependant child/ren's visas are valid.

What happens if I turn 18 years of age during my enrolment? Dependant children turning 18 years of age during their parents’ enrolment in a Queensland educational institution may continue to be enrolled until the expiry of their dependant visa in order to study in a Queensland state school. The expiry date of the dependant’s visa will be determined by DIBP. If the student wishes to continue at high school after the expiry of the dependant visa, the family will need to apply to process the student’s own student visa or alternatively enrol with another education provider.

TRAC Visitor Visa application process Visitor visas are issued by DHA for the purpose of business or holiday short stays.

• Parent/Legal custodians must submit the signed TRAC application form, along with copies of the following documentation to TRAC:o Copy of the parent/legal guardian’s passport title page (translated into English by a

certified translator)o If the parent/legal custodian is accompanying the child a copy of the parent/legal custodian’s

passport title page (translated into English by a certified translator)o Copy of eVisa/DHA Visa Grant Notification Lettero TRAC school acceptance form (if available)

• Students who will not be living with their Parent/Legal custodian must complete section 3 of the application form with the details of the Responsible Nominee approved by DHA.

• It is the responsibility of the parent to confirm availability of a place for the student holding a visitor visa with the relevant school.

• Upon confirmation of a complete application, TRAC will issue an invoice for the relevant tuition fees. Payment must be made as soon as possible.

• TRAC will issue a receipt for payment and send a TRAC application acceptance email.• Students on visitor visas must complete the TRAC application process and pay the relevant

fees prior to commencing their enrolment at a Queensland state school.• Students on visitor visas can enrol for a minimum of two weeks and cannot exceed the period the

applicant is entitled to study in Australia, as per the condition of their visa.• Once the initial application is processed, extensions are only considered by TRAC in extenuating

circumstances.

Visitor visas: enrolment will be for a minimum of two weeks and will not exceed the period the applicant is entitled to study in Australia, as per the condition of their visa.

How do I enrol in a Queensland state school? • On arrival in Queensland make an appointment for an interview with the school.• The following paperwork is required at the interview:

o TRAC Authority to Enrol emailo TRAC school acceptance formo Parent's/responsible nominee passport/IDo Student's passporto Visa (in passport or eVisa grant notification)o Proof of address

Whether or not your child is enrolled at a particular state school depends on a number of factors, including where you live in Queensland. TRAC cannot guarantee your enrolment in a particular state school. For further information please refer to the DET procedure Enrolment in State Primary, Secondary and Special Schools available at: http://ppr.det.qld.gov.au/.

Parents must advise the school and TRAC of any changes to enrolment details, change of school, visa status or expiry date and any contact details within 7 days of any change.

Processing Times Complete applications will be processed within three (3) to five (5) working days from the date of receipt.
