OUR PHILOSOPHYAt Temple Sinai, we offer a caring and engaging learning environment for children ages 10 months to 4 years.

Through play-based and inquiry-based learning Temple Sinai Community Preschool strives to provide a happy and

supportive environment for children to learn and gain an understanding of the world around them. Our program

is based on promoting positive self-esteem, curiosity and creativity. Our goal is to help develop the child’s social,

emotional, intellectual and physical capabilities to the fullest.

Temple Sinai Community Preschool follows a child-directed and an emergent curriculum. The terms child-directed

and emergent capture the idea that the types of learning a child is ready to do will emerge when a teacher

facilitates an environment where they feel secure, engaged and interested. Instead of a teacher-directed lesson

plan, the teacher encourages curiosity, play, exploration, collaboration and creativity by developing content that

the children demonstrate interest in.

OUR JEWISH PHILOSOPHYFundamental to our program is our Jewish philosophy, where the introduction to and celebration of the Jewish

festivals is central.

Our philosophy is that of community with the goal of establishing the love for learning and fascination of the festivals

while approaching the world in a Jewish way. We have an inclusive approach to building a strong and welcoming

community rooted in Reform Jewish tradition.

Being a part of Temple Sinai helps strengthen this philosophy as well as the child’s Jewish identity.

OUR TEACHERSTemple Sinai Community Preschool teachers are dedicated and nurturing educators with many years of experience

and who pride themselves in fostering positive engaging and memorable experiences.

Our teachers are registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators.


OUR PROGRAMSKIDDIE KO-OP (For children who are 18 months by September 1)

9.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., 9.00 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. or 9.00 a.m. to 1.15 p.m.

Our Kiddie Ko-op program provides a wonderful and exciting first school experience. While mastering independence the children are nurtured and encouraged as they actively engage in our stimulating learning environment. Our program is created to meet each child’s individual needs by providing an environment that feels safe and secure. It is designed to inspire the exploration of their world through play and inquiry and to inspire a love of learning.

• Our programs provide a wide variety of experiences including: k Library k Gym Time/Outdoor play k Weekly music specialist k Specialties — including drumming, dance, science, yoga and more

• Parents play an integral part in our program k Monthly parent participation (optional)

• Enriched Jewish program k Celebrating Shabbat weekly k Weekly Shabbat sing-a-long with Cantor Sharon Brown-Levy k Celebration of all Jewish festivals k Teaching tzedakah and tikkun olam

• Nutritious snacks and lunch k Creative menus that meet nutritional needs and offer a wide variety of foods k Peanut-, nut-, sesame- and egg-free preschool

Our Nursery program builds on knowledge learned in Kiddie Ko-op, further developing the child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs to their fullest. The Nursery program provides a wide variety of experiences which promotes positive self-esteem, curiosity, creativity and a love of learning through play, exploration and inquiry.
