From the Pastor’s Heart

Greetings Church Family,

As we propel forward into this next quarter, I am prayerful that God will continue to dwell

in this place and that He will give us a deeper revelation of himself in our lives. Let us strive

to grow in the knowledge, grace, and truth of Him. Believe it or not, for all that we have

seen in this past year, God has even more in store for this great church and His people. I

solicit your continued prayers in my ministry here. I pray that the God of grace, mercy, and

peace will forever be in your lives, your homes, this community and every endeavor you

undertake. Thank you all again for the wonderful experience that you have given me in this

position that God has called me to. Let us always look to Jesus and live for His return;

loving one another in brotherly love and serving him in spirit and in truth. Know that you all

are special to me and I carry a love for you in my heart that is unsurpassed.

Hillcrest, as we, "strive to be the church that God has called us to be," let us take note of our

rich history, the good as well as the bad. Let us walk worthy of God who has called us and

who has given us the opportunity to make a difference to His glory in our community and in

the world in which we live.

Your Humble Servant in Christ,

Pastor W. Clyde Pearson

DO YOU HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST?

If you believe in your heart that Jesus Is Lord, the

Christ, the Savior, the Son of the Living God, and you

are willing to turn from sin to God, then receive Jesus

Christ now by faith and pray this prayer:

“Oh, God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me. I believe His shed blood paid the

price for my sin, and that His death, burial, and resurrection were all for me. I now receive Him as my personal Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and for the gifts of salvation and eternal

life. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.” Take God at His Word and claim His gift of salvation.

Remember, it’s God who does the saving—not your

good works, not your family pedigree, and not your

church. Believe and you will be saved.

Meet Our First Lady

Amelia Pearson

Sister Amelia Pearson is the helpmate to our Pastor, W. Clyde Pearson. They have been married for

nearly 29 years and have one daughter, Eboni. Sister Amelia is a graduate of Grambling State

University in Grambling, LA where she received a B.S. in Marketing. As the Pastor’s helpmate, she

strives to be a woman who leads by example and shows her love for the Lord by having a heart of

compassion for all those she comes in contact with. Her personal aspiration is to let the women of

Hillcrest and the women of the community know that each person is beautifully and wonderfully made

by the Lord and that He has a special plan for their lives. Along with her husband, their goal is to

continue to raise up mature believers to serve HIM and equip every member for Kingdom ministry.

She is very down to earth and has no problem keeping it real in any situation. She is very easy to talk

to and gives wisdom to all that asks. She effortlessly shows strong commitment and dedication to

assisting her husband in serving God’s people. Sister Amelia is truly an unparalleled inspiration to her

family, friends and her church. Her passion and interest is to provide a spark that will empower more

Christian ladies to stand up for righteousness. Her motto is “What matters to you matters to God.”

I now invite you to get to know Sister Amelia a little better.

As a child, what was your favorite thing to do? My favorite thing to do as a child was to ride my

bike across town to the library. I loved to read and the library was most exciting and cool place to be in

a hot rural town. Books exposed me to a whole new world and came my wings to fly about my

circumstances.

How many siblings do you have? I have three siblings - 2 brothers and an identical twin sister.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Spare time (laugh).....that's a luxury that I don't have

much of these days. At this season of ministry, vacation affords us spare time. In between, I take time

out to be creative. I enjoy reading, paper crafting, and photography.

A special THANKS to everyone who volunteered for

this years Vacation Bible School. We were Special

Decide, and Defend the truth about who Jesus really

is at Agency D3! Our Vacation Bible School scripture

was 1 Peter 3:15: But honor the Messiah as Lord in

your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to

anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is

in you.

HBC Ministry Spotlight

Men’s Ministry

Who we are:

We are Godly men of Hillcrest Baptist Church who come together in spiritual and social

environments to encourage and support one another.

What we believe:

We believe in the inerrant Word of God. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and

that God sent His Son to the cross to die for our sins. We believe through Jesus’ shed blood

on the cross, we have forgiveness for our sins; and through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we

have eternal life.

What we do:

We meet the first Saturday of each month, except in July and August. First, we have

breakfast, followed by a discussion of manly issues.

We have read and discussed the Discipline of a Godly Man. and three books of the Authentic

Manhood 33 Series.

We participate in the Adopt–a–School Program at Hillcrest Heights Elementary School,

where we monitor, mentor and provide back packs for the students and mulch for the grounds

around the school.

We support the out reach ministry by providing meat products for the food pantry.

We beautify the lawn around the church by trimming, mulching, cutting and fertilizing.

We go fishing, bowling, golfing and on retreats. We recently attended a Washington Nationals

baseball game.

In all of these ministries and fellowships, Pastor Pearson has been out front and leading the

way. He attends all of our sessions and participates in our discussions. We thank God for

Pastor Pearson’s commitment, dedication and leadership. As a result of his leadership, we are

becoming a band of Christian brothers.

The book-at-a-time Bible reading plan provides two readings for each day. The first reading alternates

between Old and New Testament books, giving you three or four chapters a day. The Gospels are spread

throughout the year. The second reading takes you through a chapter or so of the wisdom literature and

Isaiah. Combined, these readings will take you through the entire Bible in one year.

To prevent the frustration of falling behind and to provide some reflection time, each month consists of

only 25 readings. You’ll have several days each month to meditate more deeply on something that was

significant to you in the past week, to catch up on missed readings, or to revisit favorite passages.
