Temple Beth Abraham is preparing gift baskets for Purim filled with fruit, sweets and, of course, Hamantaschen, for you to send to your friends in the congregation. Each Temple Beth Abraham family will receive one basket with a card that lists all those who wish to send their Purim greetings. What a wonderful way to convey your wishes for a happy Purim to your friends, new and old, in our Temple community. Here’s what you need to do to send baskets to your friends… On the enclosed member list, circle the names of the congregants to whom you wish to send Mishloach Manot. You can choose to send your Purim wishes to as many TBA members as you want. We kindly request a contribution of $6 per basket or 5 baskets for $25; 10 baskets for $50; and 20 baskets for $90. Or send to the entire congregation for $180. Please note, in lieu of a basket, those congregants who live out of town will receive a beautiful note acknowledging your donation and your Purim wishes. You can also send Mishloach Manot to your children who are attending college. (Please – only children in college.) For each basket sent to a college student we request a donation of $20 (includes the basket, packaging and shipping.) Please make sure to return both the congregant list and the order form along with your check to the temple office no later than, February 13. The mitzvah of giving mishloach manot is spelled out in the Book of Esther, which enjoins the Jewish people to observe the days of Purim "as days of feasting and gladness, and sending portions of food to one another, and gifts to the poor" (9:22) Temple Beth Abraham wants to help you do a mitzvah! Your personal Purim basket will be here for you to pick up on Purim evening, Monday, March 9 th . The festivities begin at 4pm with a Purim Carnival. Our family Purim celebration will begin at 6pm followed by our annual shpiel at 7pm. At 8pm we will have Hamantaschen for everyone! Finally we will read Deganza Megillah (the whole thing) beginning around 8:30pm with an open bar. Please come and celebrate with us and pick up your Mishloach Manot sent, with love, from your friends and your synagogue.
