The First Telephone
On 10 march 1876 Alexander Graham bell created the first telephone.
He used electrical waves for transmissions via cables or other transmission media over long distances, and replays such signals in audible form to its user.

Model 500 telephone The western electric model 500 telephone series
was the standard desk style telephone sold by the bell system in North America from 1950 to the 1980’s.
Millions of model 500 series phones were produced and were present in almost every home in North America. Many are still in use today because to their durability.
Model 1500
The 1500 series was made from 1963 until 1968. It had a 10 button system and the first pushbutton phone ever made.
Model 2500
The 2500 series was made by Western Electric from 1968 until the break up of the Bell System in 1984.
It was a natural upgrade to the 1500 series, using a 12-button push button dial and faceplate.
The End Of Bell
At the time the bell telephone company was one of the biggest companies in the telephone industry. They began in 1877 and closed down in 1984.

How Technology has changedTelephone conversations started as signals over wires. Later many of the signals were transmitted long distance by electrical waves through the air. For several years now the user's voice travels as a digital signal over most of the distance.
