Taramati Baradari at Ibrahim Bagh is situated in Osman Sagar at Gandipet Road, which is close to Golconda. The entire complex is spread over a sprawling 7-acre area amidst lush green ambience with the fascinating backdrop of the famed Golconda Fort. This heritage monument was built by the Seventh Sultan of Golconda.

Taramati Baradari is a historical Sarai as part of Ibrahim Bagh, a Persian style garden built during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah, the second Sultan of Golconda. The Baradari was constructed on the banks of the Musi River. Today, the region comes under the city limits of Hyderabad, India. The tourism department attributes the name to the Seventh Sultan of Golconda, Abdullah Qutb Shah who as an ode to his favorite courtesan, Taramati, is said to have named sarai, Taramati Baradari.

Currently, with two fully equipped theatres, Taramati Baradari Culture Village is the perfect venue for music concerts, performing arts, social events, etc. The Baradari is illuminated in dynamic lighting and it forms the backdrop for all the activities. Taramati Baradari pavilion has 12 doorways and was constructed to allow cross ventilation, which was one of the most indigenous techniques to have been used at that time.

The tourism department promotes the location by romantic stories linking the then Sultan with a courtesan named Taramati. One such story goes that during the reign of Abdullah Qutb Shah, he used to hear Taramati’s voice as she sung for travelers at the sarai, while he sat two kilometers away at Golconda Fort.Her melodious voice was carried by the breeze reaching the prince’s ear at the Fort. Another fable tells of two ravishing dancing sisters, Taramati and Premamati, who danced on ropes tied between their pavilion and the balcony of the king and the patron, Abdullah Qutb Shah.

The 29th and youngest state of India, Telangana was formally recognized on June 2, 2014 as a treasure trove of tourist destinations. One of the largest states in South India, Telangana is known for its hospitality, multicultural and pluralistic society. The state capital, Hyderabad is the fifth largest city in India and home to some of India’s best educational institutions, film industry, public sector & defense companies and a thriving global services sector.

Shri K.T.Rama Rao, the state’s IT Minister, informs CNBC-TV18 that US aviation giant, Boeing, will set up a defense plant in Hyderabad by partnering with the Tata Group and it will be the biggest investment in defense sector so far in the country.

Though Telangana is the nation’s newest state, it has definitely caught the eye of foreign investors as it is the preferred fast emerging state for new investments for MNCs. Shri K.T.Rama Rao said, ‘We have Facebook’s India operations headquartered in Hyderabad. Besides Microsoft, we already have Amazon, Google and Uber setting up their operations in Hyderabad which is the largest set up outside of USA.’ With Google, Uber and Amazon committing to invest about USD 250 million, priority sectors remain IT, electronic hardware manufacturing, aerospace and defense. The other potential companies which could be heading to the state include Ikea, Micromax, Celkon, Karbonn and Foxconn.

The heritage sites that the state of Telangana offers are many. For instance, Kakatiya Fort, Rammappa Temple, and the innumerable temples at Warangal for the spiritually inclined: Lord Sri Ram Temple at Bhadrachalam, Jogulamba Temple, Kolunpaka Jain Temple, Mecca Masjid and the Medak Church. With the passage of time, Telangana is emerging as an investment destination due to its proactive investor friendly policies. Being a newly born state, Telangana Tourism faces the challenge to link Hyderabad with Telangana, though all tourism attractions have been marketed for decades. Hyderabad is already a well established destination with a fairly good brand recall. The market out there has recognized Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation as a professional entity that provides a wide array of affordable services.

Apart from these, Telangana Tourism is all set to promote the new tourism products like Tribal Circuit in Warangal and Yadgirigutta as a spiritual tourism destination.


TSTDC possesses the high end fleet of transport comprising of 67 Volvo and Mercedes Benz buses and offers different tour packages for various destinations pinned both inside and outside of the state. There is one air-conditioned customer-oriented Caravan vehicle as well. The Corporation undertakes customized tours and offers lucrative packages which are already popular. The flotilla is smoothly operated vide a wide network of information and reservation offices located at important metros and through tour promotion schemes, and authorized booking agents.

When it comes to marketing plans, the goal is to create a segregated identity and brand Telangana Tourism by making a new logo that is more familiar to the public at large. TSTDC is concentrating to promote unexplored destinations viz. Tiger Reserves at Kawal, Jannaram, Tadavai and Mannanur in Adilabad which are developed for adventure and eco-tourism.

Telangana Tourism has taken up the responsibility to focus and promote tourism products and destinations of Hyderabad and also of the entire Telangana State on a sustainable basis. Meanwhile, Telangana Tourism is expected to grow in line with the national trend which is about 10% escalation each year.

Two aTms

In a bid to expand the ATM services adjacent to the Trade Fair Office building, HITEX has now another ATM service from ICICI Bank Ltd, apart from the existing one from HDFC Bank Ltd. The expansion and option from different banks can definitely cater to the needs of all the staff members of the building, otherinternal clients and during both the national and international events. The 2 ATMs can now attend to a larger crowd that by and large comprises of the exhibitors and the visitors. Admittedly, these ATMs can offer multi-banking facilities on an emergency basis and for quick transactions. The ATMs are strategically pinned just next to the registration counter. HITEX is now planning to rope in more banks to offer their ATM services, as well.

Fair Park: more sPacious

The new Fair Park (Lawn) at the HITEX premises has now become more spacious and attractive. The sprawling area has now increased to 3780 square meter from its former area of 2310 square meter. This is the most apt area to floor mini events like inner circle get together, complimenting events, exhibitors’ assembly and corporate events, festival occasions and for limited, elite social gatherings. Fair Park beckons for fun-filled special business events, where the stage décor with fine cuisine, mocktails and cocktails can be served.
