eens Who Care honors teens who give of their time and talent to volunteer. e program was created by WCSH 6 Portland and WLBZ 2 Bangor in 1999 and is widely recognized to be the only program of its kind in the state. Parents and schools know the character-building power of volunteering, and they encourage students to participate in community service programs. Once introduced to volunteering, many students are inspired to go above and beyond: teens serve on United Way committees, organize volunteer projects in their school or church, serve on the Advisory Boards of local city councils, and become full-voting members on the Board of Directors of many non-profit organizations. Others quietly help a neighbor in need or volunteer in nursing homes. eir contributions have a positive impact on our society. Nominations for Teens Who Care are accepted from throughout the WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2 viewing area. Teens may be nominated by any adult or organization other than a parent or legal guardian. Nominations are reviewed by a panel of community leaders who are responsible for the final selections. Selected Teens will be awarded a $2000 scholarship to the school of their choice. T 2 0 1 5
