TeckNet’s newly released UD027, tool-free 3.5” HDD enclosure is precision made from high quality plastics and galvanized steel. It can support both 2.5” and 3.5’’ HDD/SSD and is the perfect choice for your data storage needs. Please use the following instructions to initialize and format a new drive before mounting it. Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver. Reconnect the receiver. 2. Any HDD or SSD attached to this Computer will be shown in “Disk Management” (opened in Step 1). The unallocated drive is your new drive which needs to be formatted. 4. Click “Next”. 5. Set the size of the new volume. You can specify the volume size to meet your expectations or you can set the size of the volume to the maximum disk space available on the drive (one volume). 6. Assign a new drive letter to the new volume. A drive letter such as C, D, E, F, G will then be shown in the computer's Window's explorer ready for use. 7. Format the new volume. The file system (NTFS or FAT32), unit size allocation and the volume label can be changed here. Performing a quick format is recommended. Please click “Next” when everything is configured. 10. If you have not set the size of the volume to the maximum disk space, then the rest of the space on the drive will be left unallocated and you can repeat steps 3 to 9 to create and format more. Please try the following steps if the drive can’t be mounted to the computer properly: A. Please check if the USB ports of the computer are working properly with other devices. Additionally, try attaching the UD027 Dock (with the drive mounted) to the rear USB port(s) if you are using a desktop computer. B. Please ensure the USB cable and power adapter are attached properly. C. Please check if the LED of UD027Dock is on or not when the drive is mounted and powered on. D. Please ensure the drive has been formatted properly. Right-click on “Computer” → select “Manage” → open “Disk Management” (under “Storage”) → check the drives mounted to the computer and whether they are formatted or not. Please follow the instructions of the previous section “Initialize and Format New Drives” if you are mounting a new drive. E. Please test the UD027Dock and drive via other USB3.0 or 2.0 ports on other computers if available. F. Please test the UD027Dock and drive with other USB3.0 or USB2.0 cables (for printers etc.) if available. G. Please test the UD027Dock and drive with other 12V2A power adapters if available. H. If the issue remains, please contact TECKNET Customer Care Center and let us know the details of your drive, motherboard, computer, OS etc. (as well as the model & version) with a screen shot of the “Disk Management” & “Disk Drives” windows under “Device Manager”. 8. Click “Finish” to start to format the volume. 9. The formatting will take 5 to 30 seconds. When the formatting is completed, the new volume will be ready for any use. 3. Right-click on the new unallocated drive and select “New Simple Volume”. This will start to “add a new volume” and format it. 1. Please ensure you have installed the drive to the UD027 Dock properly and connect the Dock to the computer. Right-click on “My Computer” → select “Manage” → open “Disk Management” (under “Storage”) → a pop-up window will appear suggesting a new drive, which needs to be initialized. Please select the disk and click OK to Initialize it. Note: A. If you are mounting a drive which is no larger than 2TB and using Windows Vista or an earlier operating system, then it is recommended to initialize with the partition style MBR. B. If you are mounting a drive larger than 2TB, then it is recommended to initialize with the partition style GPT. Otherwise you will only get 2TB of the drive applicable and the rest will not be initialized. C. If you close this window by mistake or the window does not appeared, right-click on the “Disk Number” and select “Initialize Disk” to get the window to appear. Mount a 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA Drive to the UD027Dock. 2. Connect the UD027 Dock to a computer using the USB data cable. Remove Device Note: Before you remove the device, please stop any data R&W processes first; otherwise, if you force-remove the device, it may damage the data. 1.Remove device from Windows OS: Click the icon on the Windows toolbar in the bottom right corner of the desktop, and the prompt “Eject Go to Final Lap” will appear. Click the prompt will then show the “Safe to Remove Hardware” message. You can now remove the device safely. Alternatively, right-click My Computer → select Computer Management → Device Manager → Disk Drivers, and click the drive that needs to be unmounted to remove your device safely. 2. Remove device from Mac OS: Select the external hardware icon, click and drag it to trash can, and you can now safely remove the device. 3. Attach the Power Adapter cable (input AC 100-240V, output DC12V 2.5AD) to the UD027 Dock and the other end to the AC power source (AC 100-240V). Turn the Dock ON via the ON/OFF switch and a yellow indicator will light up. 4. A few seconds later, the computer will show “safely remove hardware and eject media” and “disk management” (see picture below). The hard drive mounted on the UD027 Dock is now ready for use. The “Eject media and remove devices safely” icon will pop-up on the right side of the Windows Taskbar. The hard drive will also come up in My Computer. 5. Installation Guide1. Mount a 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA Drive to the UD027Dock.

2. Connect the UD027 Dock to a computer using the USB data cable.
