Are you teaching to the 21st Century learner?Ask yourself these questions:
When was the last time you read your TEKS for your grade level technology expectations?
How often do you allow students to work on computers or any technological device?
When was the last staff development you attended to grow in this area? Are you teaching the same as you were five years ago? (Not curriculum,
but what does your classroom look like?) Could technology assist you in differentiation? Do your students know more about technology than you do?

Did you know?
According to the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, all students should be technology literate by the end of the eighth grade.
No Child Left Behind, Title II, Part D requires all teachers to be technology literate and integrate technology across the curriculum.
There is a way for us to monitor progress in technology.

What is the Texas STaR Chart?
STaR – School Technology and Readiness An online resource tool for self-assessment of a
campus and district to effectively integrate technology across the curriculum
Aligns to the Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020
Completed each year to gauge progress annually to meet requirements.
Charts are available for your campus, district, state and federal use.

Goals for improvement: Become familiar with grade level TEKS. Incorporate technology in all subject areas to develop higher-order
thinking skills and encourage collaboration. Try to attend at least two technology workshops. Set goals for your grade level and share at the next faculty meeting.

What can we do to implement technology into our instruction? Provide students opportunities to create a
PowerPoint for classroom projects. These can be done at home.
Use Smart board for Science and Math lessons. Let students create graphs from data collected. Allow students to type and edit writing
assignments. What other ways could you use technology?
