    PREFACE

The International Workshop cum Exhibition on Emerging Housing Technolo-

gies being organized by Building Materials & Technology Promotion Council

(BMTPC) on 24-25 November, 2008 in New Delhi, focuses attention on vari-

ous emerging technologies both indigenous and foreign being used/ pro-

moted in different parts of the country. In order to give a common platform

to promoters/ manufacturers/ developers of innovative technologies and user

agencies, BMTPC has invited concerned agencies to give presentations as

well as display their technologies through model structures erected physi-

cally at site. A proforma was also circulated to the agencies to collect rel-

evant information on the potential technologies. They were also provided a

typical design of EWS House about 25.40 sft. carpet area with two habit-

    able rooms, separate kitchen, bathroom.

Based on the information received from the agencies, this booklet has been

compiled. The primary responsibility for the accuracy of the data/figures

rests with the sponsors of each system/technology.

It is hoped that Housing Boards, Government Departments, Construction

Industry and interested individuals will find the data useful and get an idea

    on the various technologies.

    The BUILDING MATERIALS & TECHNOLOGY

PROMOTION COUNCIL (BMTPC) was setup in

1990 as an inter-ministerial organisation under the

Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation to bridge

the gap between laboratory research and field level

    application.

    VISION

BMTPC to be world class knowledge and

demonstration hub for providing solutions to all with

special focus on common man in the area of

    sustainable building materials, appropriate construction

technologies & systems including disaster resistant

    construction.

    MISSION

To work towards a comprehensive and integrated

approach for promotion & transfer of potential, cost-

    effective, environment-friendly, disaster resistant

building materials and technologies including locally

available materials from lab to land for sustainable

    development of housing.
