Technology is a tool to foster a community of learners. When technology is used to connect, communicate, and create, it can strengthenface-to-face learning environment and enhance the quality of interaction amongst learners.

BioESL educator since 1994CA prisons Peace Corps Volunteer, BotswanaNYC public high schools Harold Washington College, Chicago City College of San Francisco Southwestern College, SDSU ALI, SD City CollegeSan Diego Miramar College

Been teaching since 1994. Been teaching in San Diego since October! (Moved here in August) Been teaching at SDCC since January (8 weeks?)Started getting interested in tech about 15 years ago.First taught in the dirt in a rural village in Bots. As ESL we love hands-on activities, and we still do. But what Ive found is that tech can enhance and increase the community and take it beyond the classroom walls but bring us closer together when we are in the classroom. My current classes are not online or in labs. Wifi doesnt even work sometimes. Utilizing students tools. Going to labs when possible. Doing many normal ESL activities in the f2f classroom.3

A community needs a venue to meet. Where will yours be?Because I need a landing page Community information. All of these have mobile apps. A big plus for a busy teacher/mom . . . Especially adjunct. Can check in my car/etc.15

At many of my first workshops for Bb and Moodle it was all about how to dump your work into the bucket. Add worksheets. Link to videos. Put up assignments. YES. But also use the tools that build the community: profiles/webpages. Blogs. Wikis. Chat. Forums. Remember when they used to have to get each others phone numbers? They already have the framework for finding each other.16

A Community of Respect

Nadia, I love your topic and I agree with you. Holding what you believe, your valuable book is the most important thing. Keep holding the precious book and following it.Hello Andrea, Wow it is a beautiful story. I really liked and also you made me smile at the end when you mention about the finger that you use her ring. Also, it is a precious memory as same as you I have a bracelet that my grandmother gave to me before she pass away. Link
