Technology and Innovation @ IFICMandate:

• Promote the technological and innovation transfer from our research activity at IFIC

• Organize and coordinate present on-going activities • Recognize IFIC technological potentials• Chair the process to define the future strategy on technological

developments at IFIC• Produce useful documentation • Guide/supervise/help calls for funding

Activities 2017-2018 (starting October 2016):

• Identify groups at IFIC with potential Technology impact• Contact with companies and technological centres• Support IFIMED groups• Keep and promote IFIC as partner of technological associations or platforms

Collaboration agreement between IFIC-AVI (Valencian Agency of Innovation) to create a Scientific Unit of Entrepreneurial Innovation (UCIE)

• Signatories: University of Valencia and AVI (Generalitat Valenciana)• Final signature 26/11/2018 (funding anticipated by UV)• Essential to be a Severo Ochoa centre• Funding 250 K€ in 2018. Expected to consolidate in future.

Lines of research:

• The new architectures of GPU-type computers are being used more andmore in experiments, especially in problems related to physics analysis or inprocesses that need to be carried out very quickly.

• The Multicore processors have also managed to substitute a high percentageof the mono-core with very good results.

• Hadoop is consolidated as a software environment that is compatible withdistributed applications and the management of large amounts of data. Thefeatures it provides in the LHC experiments will mark the way forward withrespect to the use of relational database management systems that are moreconventional.

• Another progress is being made in the methodologies applied to physicsanalysis: the techniques from Machine Learning have gained more areas ofapplication.
