Our pipeline fabrication facility and spoolbase at Evanton is permanently established in theCromarty Firth estuary in the north east ofScotland, near the port of Invergordon, approximately 17 miles north of Inverness. Itconsists of a 1,300m length onshore spoolbasefacility with a 1,300m causeway extensionproviding a safe berthing for the Technip reel-layvessels or any other vessels in our fleet.

The Spoolbase was specifically built for the construction ofmultiple pipestalks (approx. 1.0km) which can be furtherwelded into a prepared 2.0km length prior to or duringspooling operations onto Technip’s reel-lay vessels. Thespoolbase has permanently located facilities with ancillarypipestalk storage racks and roller systems to enablesignificant quantities of pipestalks to be prefabricated andstored onshore and/or on the purposely establishedcauseway.

Spoolbase features

n Triple 950m pipestalk storage racks and 1,250m causeway/pipestalk storage rack.

n Two production shops – fully mechanised pipe handling, welding, NDE and FJC.

n Two fabrication workshops – pipework fabrication, spool fabrication, testing and maintenance facilities.

n Warehousing, offices, canteen, and ancillary storage facilities.

n Accommodates synchronised/dual spooling to Apache II and/or the Deep Energy reel-lay vessels.

n Specifically designed equipment for Pipe-in-Pipe (PiP), Electrically Trace Heated Pipe-in-Pipe (ETH-PiP) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) lined pipelines.

n By combining the causeway spooling line and one of the 3,950m landward storage racks, 2km stalks can be spooled.

The spoolbase has an extensive track record in the provisionof Carbon Steel and CRA (Corrosion Resistant Alloy)flowlines as well as tie-in spool (in single or Pipe-in-Pipeconfiguration) fabrication services, pre-fabricated at theSpoolbase.
