Technip Case Study www.allocatesoftware.com The Challenge With over 50 years of experience, Technip is a world leader in offshore engineering and construction projects, with world-class know how and expertise across five continents. Specializing within the energy industry, Technip employs over 30,000 personnel and has a fleet of vessels that work in the most challenging environments installing pipelines and involved in subsea construction. Technip’s Offshore Business Group is tasked with ensuring highly qualified and skilled engineering personnel are planned effectively and efficiently across a number of complex projects. Most of the planning carried out by the Offshore Business Group involved the use of manual data entry into spreadsheets. The team was challenged with maintaining a multitude of spreadsheets for both planning and reporting purposes. The demand for greater management information coupled with a need to accurately plan and bid for future projects, resulted in a number of time consuming, repetitive manual processes. To enable future growth without significantly increasing the size of the Offshore Business Group, Technip decided to investigate software solutions that could meet their needs. While the main aim was to find enterprise grade software that could manage the level of resources and planning required, it was also critical to find a toolset that could be setup quickly and be easy to use. The solution needed to grow with the business and provide mechanisms for projecting future resource needs based on prospective projects and bids. Existing ERP solutions were considered too generalized and costly to customize. Alternatively, building an in house solution would not have been an efficient use of time and money, and would have taken significantly longer to achieve the desired benefits. Background “Our ability to plan for future projects and anticipate our resource requirements has been significantly enhanced by OffshoreSuite. Not only can I see my allocation of personnel by project or customer, I can also predict the total utilization required for future phases and mitigate any resource constraints before they impact our projects or our ability to bid for future work.” Monica Perez, Manager of Offshore Project Engineering Resources for Technip’s OffshoreSuite Technip Case Study Allocate OffshoreSuite

The Challenge

With over 50 years of experience, Technip is a world leader in offshore engineering and construction projects, with world-class know how and expertise across five continents.
