• Our experience is that sharing microphones in the horn section (i.e. 2 microphones for 3 players) is far from ideal for both musicians and sound engineer. One microphone per person should be used. Please avoid using clip on mics

• We strongly recommend that you use some sort of pickup in the piano (or a SM58 wrapped in a towel) in addition to microphones in the normal position, as it is often difficult to get any level out of the instrument without feedback

• Guitars will need microphones for their amps. If you have a house amp available we will normally use it on the Rhodes – if an amp cannot be provided a DI will be needed instead

• Drums will require mics on kick, snare and two overheads as a minimum. Please feel free to use extra mics at your discretion!

• The laptop comes out on stereo jacks from the trumpet section – stereo DI is required • Please also supply a chat microphone in the Director’s position • The stage plan above shows 6 monitor wedges on 4 mixes. If there are more wedges

and/or mixes available then we will use as many as you have! • We will not normally require music stands but please have a few to hand in case – if this

is not possible please let us know in advance Obviously every stage and room is different and you will know your venue best, so your knowledge and experience of working there may override anything in this rider. If you feel that this is the case it is important that we know in advance though! Please get in touch with Ben to discuss, contact details below When providing instruments and backline please supply the following:

• Good quality rock (not jazz) drum kit e.g. Yamaha, DW, Sonor with minimum of - Bass Drum + Pedal Snare Drum + Stand 3 Toms + mounts/stands Hi Hat Cymbals + Hi Hat Stand 3 cymbal stands + cymbals Stool Carpet

• Good quality acoustic upright bass with pickup or ideally DPA 4099 microphone; Fender

• Good quality grand piano tuned to A=440; Rhodes stage piano in good playable condition (preferably Mark I) + Fender Twin or similar amp, or suitcase piano with speaker

• 1 x Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster electric guitar; 2 x Fender Twin or Hot Rod Deluxe
