I.DEFINITION

According to the ANSI (1983), a technical report is a document that gives the result of research or developmental investigations, or both, or other technical studies.

Atechnical report(also:scientific report) is a document that describes the process, progress, or results of technical orscientific researchor the state of a technical or scientific research problem.

II.NATURE AND CHARACTERISTICS

NATUREA technical report should be clear, concise, and complete, with assumptions plainly identified and data presented (including their uncertainty) with precise logic, with relevance to practices described, and with actual accomplishments of the work clearly stated and honestly appraised. It should be technically sound and free from personalities and commercial bias (whenever possible). (ASME, 2008)

Also, it is a document written by a researcher detailing the results of a project and submitted to the sponsor of that project.

CHARACTERISTICS may be published before the corresponding journal literature content may be more detailed than the corresponding journal literature, although there may be less background information since the sponsor already knows it are usually not peer reviewed unless the report is separately published as journal literature classified and export controlled reports have restricted access.

III.FUNCTIONS are today a major source of scientific and technical information. They are prepared for internal or wider distribution by many organizations, most of which lack the extensive editing and printing facilities of commercial publishers. are often prepared for sponsors of research projects.

IV.ACQUISITION is initially submitted to the person or body for which the investigation was carried out or by which it was sponsored. Copies of it may subsequently be made available in limited quantities, but these copies are not produced commercially and are not available from booksellers or other commercial sources. Be readily available to as broad as an audience as allowed to facilitate research and to promote general education goals

V.ORGANIZATION are usually published irregularly, either in series or as separate monographs. Technical reports are not typeset but are reproduced from typescript by near-print processes, and they are usually concerned with only one specific subject or with a few closely related subjects.
