ABOUT US

ODE embarked on its business journey in 1985 with contracting operations. In 1998, ODE decided to move forward in the insulation industry, one that would serve Turkey's need. Having become an importer in 1990 and a manufacturer in 1996, ODE now manufactures products in 2 main categories, Building and HVAC insulation. ODE is now among the largest manufacturers of the insulation industry with 5 state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, over 4 thousand product varieties, and expert workforce.

We manufacture extruded polystyrene thermal insulating material under the brand of ODE Isıpan; polymer modified bituminous waterproofing blankets under the brand of ODE Membrane, glass wool products used for heat and sound insulation and fire safety under the brand of ODE Starflex; and elastomeric rubber foam insulating material under the brand of ODE R-Flex.

As its Eskişehir Manufacturing Facility comes into play, ODE which currently exports to 5 continents aims to increase its export capacity even further, and become the leader in waterproofing in Turkey.

ODE reflects its social responsibility awareness to all its operations, and is the first company in the insulation industry of Turkey to publish a "Corporate Social Responsibility Report". Furthermore, ODE has been the first in Turkey among its peers to earn the internationally recognized Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificate which is compatible with European standards and which applies for all markets to all heat and water insulation products manufactured by ODE in its facilities in Çorlu.

Having implemented pioneering efforts toward raising public awareness of insulation and energy awareness, and taking care to be involved in projects that will hand down permanent value to the future, ODE changed its company motto to "Insulates the Future" in 2014. In knowledge of the universal responsibility of being in the global market, ODE continues to operate as a company which encourages its social stakeholders through visionary and innovative work.

CORPORATE SOCIALRESPONSIBILITY REPORT

ODE Insulation, whose foundations were laid in 1985, has built all its values on its style of life based on corporate culture and social responsibility ever since. ODE Insulation has carried out all of its activities voluntarily, based on regard for the environment and society. Within the framework of this business perspective, ODE Insulation has toiled with all its strength to better benefit our society and to make a better future for it; and has embraced as the cornerstones of its company vision the principles of transparency, commitment to ethical values, and fighting discrimination.

This, ODE's first Corporate Social Responsibility Report is the first report prepared on this subject in the insulation sector of Turkey. The report expands on the topics of social responsibility projects successfully realized by ODE since the past, internal and external training programs, efforts for communication with stakeholders, ODE's awards and certificates, collaborations with and sponsorships of non-governmental organizations and universities, ODE's workforce profile, its policy for workers' health and safety, its environmentally friendly production and products.

Beyond being conscious of needs as a part of the society in which we lives, at the foundation of ODE's philosophy of social responsibility lies ODE's determination to stop at nothing to take responsibility in making life better in our country, and even the whole world. Protection of the environment and the natural habitat, the most significant component of improving our lives is discussed under the title of "Environment" in ODE's social responsibility policies. ODE continues to take necessary measures to avoid harming the environment, and to work to render its products compatible with the environment and with human health, and to document this compatibility through certification. Insulation materials manufactured by ODE indirectly reduce our country's energy requirement, and make significant contributions to the reduction of the current account deficit. All occupations from preservation of ecological diversity to reduction of energy consumption, from using recyclable materials to educating stakeholders in environmental management and energy efficiency are covered by ODE's Environmental Policy.

Since the printing of the report would lead to unfavorable environmental effects, it was decided to share the report with the public over the Internet.

As a significant step of the "D" - Digitalization aspect of KOD 2020, ODE Insulation's motto for 2020, we are offering our technical insulation BIM Library for the use of you, our valued stakeholders.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) which is the process implementing integrated approach systems, which are the future of the building industry we serve, has become a global standard for international building projects.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a process which begins with the creation of a smart 3-D model, and facilitates the interdisciplinary coordination of a project throughout the project's life cycle (planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance) as well as the simulation of the project. Designing projects with BIM systems leads to efficiency in processes and consequent reduction in costs, as well as time saved through prevention of possible errors and overlaps.

The ODE BIM Library which is ODE Insulation's service to the sector is an extension which enables you, through the product modelling it includes, to easily select the product you will use on pipes and ducts you have created in your installation design and to add insulation automatically.

The ODE BIM Library is based on the Revit 2019 version. The smart objects included in the ODE BIM Library contain all the technical data you require.

PRODUCT SELECTION CRITERIA LAMINATION TYPES

LINE TEMPERATURES

R-FLEX (Elastomeric Rubber Foam)

STARFLEX (Glass Wool)

Thermal losses and gains in installations depend on the size of the surfaces, the difference in temperature between the surface that is to be insulated and ambient, and on the properties of the thermal insulation material. Therefore, in selecting the insulating material to be used, the decision should be based on the properties of the material and where the material can be used. Medium temperature and ambient temperature are the most definitive factors in selecting insulation materials.

In practice, lines are divided in three groups according to the temperature of the fluid that passes through the installation. Lines below 10°C are classified as cold lines while lines over 100°C are classified as hot lines.

Thermal conductivity value of the insulation material under exposure temperatures should be used in calculations. (See Relevant tables and DOP data for each product)

The suitable insulation thickness should be determined while selecting of the suitable insulation material. Selecting the optimum thickness of insulation material is of critical importance. Material thickness should be selected by consulting mechanical engineers specializing on the type of installation in question. Material types and thicknesses can be easily determined by entering project-specific information in to the ODE CALC technical insulation calculation software.

R-FLEX PIPE MEASUREMENT DATA FORM

1- If pipework has already been installed, cut the ODE R-Flex Pipe lengthwise. Use only sharp blades for cutting. This will make it easier for you apply the adhesive.

2- Place the ODE R-Flex Pipe around the pipe that is to be insulated, and apply ODE R-Flex Adhesive on the edges on the end section as well as the edges that have been formed along the slit.

3- Once you are sure the adhesive is dry, gently press both edges of the slit together, sticking them together.

4- Cut a part a few mm longer than required to cover the region between two insulating pipes. If the piece you cut is not long enough, it will make the insulation properties in the area worse.

5- Cut a piece that is a few mm longer than is needed to cover the seam between two insulation pipes. If the piece you have cut is not long enough, the insulating properties in this area will suffer.

R-FLEX APPLICATION DETAILSDUCT INSULATION

1- Carefully clean the surface that is to be insulated. Nothing that can hinder edhesion should be left on surface. Measure the duct surface that is to be insulated, and cut the appropriate size of ODE R-Flex Sheet from the roll.

2- Apply ODE R-Flex Adhesive on the surface of the ODE R-Flex that is to be attached to the duct and on the duct surface. To obtain good results, first cover the lower surface of the duct, then the side surfaces, and finally the top surface.

3- Attach the sides together using ODE R-Flex Adhesive.

1- Carefully clean the entire surface before beginning insulation. Measure the height of the tank and its circumference with the ODE R-FLEX Sheet

2- Transfer the measurements onto an ODE R-Flex Sheet and cut. Apply ODE R-Flex Adhesive to the entire surface of the ODE R-Flex Sheet using a spatula, and to the tank surface using a brush. Apply adhesive the edges of the board and attach the board to the tank. Attach the sides together.

3- Measure against the ODE R-FLEX Sheet to insulate the convex area.

4- Calculate the diameter and draw the circle that will cover the convex area. Cut the circle out carefully at the marked places.

5- Apply ODE R-Flex Adhesive to the piece you have cut out and to the convex surface of the tank that is to be covered.

6- Place the piece on the area and press down to prevent it from sliding toward the outer edge.

7- When the piece has adhered to the tank surface, apply ODE R-Flex adhesive on the edges all along the circumference. After the adhesive is dry, attach the piece to the ODE R-Flex Sheet covering the man body of the tank by firmly pressing the edges together.

STARFLEX APPLICATION DETAILSDUCT INSULATION1) External Application

2) Internal Application

Glass wool blankets and boards faced on one side with aluminium foil are used on surfaces such as air conditioning and ventilation ducts. Glass wool blankets faced on one side with aluminium foil can be applied on ventilation ducts with rectangular or circular cross-sections. There are 5 cm long aluminium foil overlaps on both sides of these materials manufactured in the form of blankets. In applications of glass wool blankets on the exterior of ventilation ducts, the insulation material is fastened to the duct surface by means of special self-adhesive retaining pins.

After the application surface has been cleaned, 5 to 6 special self-adhesive retaining pins are stuck per each m2 of duct surface. The length of blanket that will be cut is determined depending on the duct cross section that is to be insulated. For ventilation ducts with circular cross-sections, the length of blanket that needs to be cut is calculated by adding 2 times the thickness of the insulation and 5 cm of overlap to the perimeter length of the duct. For ventilation ducts with rectangular cross-sections, the length of blanket that needs to be cut is calculated by adding 8 times the thickness of the insulation and 5 cm of overlap to the perimeter length of the duct. After the material has been cut to the proper dimensions, the blanket is slipped over the pins with the aluminium foil faced surface facing outwards, fully covering the duct surface. Pin washers are placed on pins that perforate the material. The application is completed by gluing or stapling of overlaps of blanket seams or wrapping them with self adhesive aluminium foil tape to ensure continuity and sealing of the aluminium facing on the external surface. In order to avoid reducing the thickness of the thermal insulation material used, glass wool blankets or self adhesive aluminium foil tapes should not be stretched too much while they are wrapped around the duct, and care should be taken to ensure that the material is not crushed while attaching pin washers.

2.1) Acoustic Application for Ventilation and Air Conditioning DuctsApplications made for the purposes of sound and thermal insulation and fire safety on internal surfaces of ventilation and air conditioning ducts. Prior to application, duct surfaces are cleaned until they are free or dust and grease. The internal measurements of the duct that is to be insulated are taken, and the material is cut to the appropriate dimensions. Self-adhesive anchor pins are stuck inside the duct depending on the velocity of air flow. After a special adhesive is applied to the duct surface with a brush, the previously cut boards are placed. The transverse and lengthwise seams should be placed evenly, and no gaps should be left. While placing a washer on a pin, the installer should take care not to compress over 10% of the thickness of the insulation material. The application is completed by trimming the excess pin lengths from the washers.

2.2) Collector ApplicationsCollector blankets and boards should be used together for thermal insulation applications on solar collectors. Aluminium foil faced glass wool boards can also be used to prevent thermal losses due to radiation from the absorbing surface toward the frame and to reflect the heat back to the selective surface. In application a 10 - 20 mm gap is left between the absorbing surface and the insulation of the lower surface depending on the height of the frame. 2 - 3 mm holes are drilled in places where rain water can not enter, to ventilate the collectors and to prevent condensation.

STARFLEX APPLICATION DETAILSINSULATION OF PIPEWORK1) Unfaced Glass Wool ApplicationsThe glass wool pipe thermal insulation material used in these applications material has a lengthwise slit along its middle to allow easy installation on pipework. The application is completed by applying facing to the exterior of the insulation material. For the application to be made, both the pipe and the insulation material should be at a temperature of at least 10°C. Therefore the insulation material should be left to stand until its temperature equalizes with the ambient temperature.

The insulation material is slid over the pipe by means of the lengthwise slits running along it, is tightened and tied at intervals of no more than 300 mm using galvanized wires, plastic straps or steel straps depending on the external diameter. In transverse joints, galvanized wires are used if the external diameter of the insulated pipe is below 500 mm, and plastic or steel straps are used if the external diameter is over 500 mm. If the requires insulation thickness is reached by applying two layers, care should be taken to stagger the seams. In single layer applications, care should be taken to place the seam underneath the pipe.

For application on elbows:

Elbows are insulated by cutting one or several pieces from a pipe-formed thermal insulation material depending on the diameter of the pipe (D) and the radius of the elbow (R), and by tying each segment with at least one wire. If the elbow radius is equal to or less than twice the pipe diameter, elbows can be insulated with one 45° connecting piece. Insulation of elbows is completed with two 30° connecting pieces if the elbow radius is 3 times the pipe diameter, and with three 22.5° connecting pieces if the elbow radius is 5 times the pipe diameter.

The application of insulation is completed with the installation of a final facing on the material. If the insulation is to be given a plastic facing, the plastic coating is prepared by cutting with an overrun of at least 25 mm from the outer edge of the insulation. After the facing is wrapped around the pipe, it is fastened to the insulation material using plastic rivets. Elbows are covered with previously prepared plastic elbow segments. Transverse seams are joined with plastic tape. The ends of pipe sections are covered with finishing elements. The finishing element tape is wrapped around the end and fixed in place with rivets/nails.

Figure - Application with prefabricated insulation materials

1) Should be smaller than 300 mm.2) Transverse seams - If external diameter <500 mm then galvanized wire - If external diameter ≥500 mm then steel strap3) External diameter

2) Aluminium Foil Faced Glass Wool ApplicationsThe external surface of the pipe formed insulation material used in these applications is covered with aluminium foil. Aluminium foil faced thermal insulation materials that are manufactured in various diameters have lengthwise slits along their middle to allow them to be slid easily on pipework. A continuous seam of the exterior aluminium foil facing along the slit section is achieved by using the material’s self-adhesive joints with a width of 5 cm and by using aluminium foil tape with a thickness of 7.5 cm that will be subsequently applied to the seam. For the application to be made, both the pipe and the insulation material should be at a temperature of at least 10°C. Therefore the insulation material as well as the aluminium foil tape that will be used should be left to stand until its temperature equalizes with the ambient temperature.

If the aluminium foil facing does not include a self-adhesive overlapping section, the lengthwise seams of the insulation material are pressed together and bonded tightly with aluminium foil tape. Care should be taken to ensure that the sections of seams that will be bonded to each other are clean and dry. Seams should be secured with tape or steel wire, and seams along bends should be secured with tape or hot sealant application.

In the event that the front of the insulation material is exposed at the end of pipes, special connecting elements are used. The application is completed by attaching the adhesive finishing element around the end, or by fixing any finishing elements that are not self-adhesive using rivets/nails.

SECTION 16: Other information

EUCEB Information:

All products manufactured by ODE Yalıtım are made of non-classified fibres and are certified by EUCEB.

EUCEB, European Certification Board of Mineral Wool Products - www.euceb.org, is a voluntary initiative by the mineral wool industry. It is an independent certification authority that guarantees that products are made of fibres, which comply with the exoneration criteria for carcinogenicity (Note Q) of the Directive 97/69/EC and the Regulation (EC) 1272/2008.

To ensure that fibres comply with the exoneration criteria all tests and supervision procedures are carried out by independent, expert qualified institutions. EUCEB ensures that the producers of mineral wool have put in place self-control measures.

The mineral wool producers commit to EUCEB to:

• supply sampling and analysis reports established by laboratories recognized by EUCEB, proving that the fibres comply with one of the four criteria of exoneration described in Note Q of the Directive 97/69/EC,

• be controlled, twice per year, of each production unit by an independent third party recognized by EUCEB (sampling and conformity to the initial chemical composition),

• put in place procedures of internal self-control in each production unit.

The products responding to the EUCEB certification are recognized by the EUCEB logo put on the packaging.

ROCKFLEX APPLICATION DETAILSDUCT INSULATION1) External Application

2) Internal Application

Stone wool blankets and boards faced on one side with aluminium foil are used on surfaces such as air conditioning and ventilation ducts. Blankets faced on one side with aluminium foil can be applied on ventilation ducts with rectangular or circular cross-sections. There are 5 cm long aluminium foil overlaps on both sides of these materials manufactured in the form of blankets. In applications of stone wool blankets on the exterior of ventilation ducts, the insulation material is fastened to the duct surface by means of special self-adhesive retaining pins.

INSULATION OF PIPEWORK

1) Unfaced Stone Wool Pipe Applications

Applications made on pipework vary depending on whether the thermal insulation material is faced or not faced. Facing can be applied on unfaced thermal insulation materials to prevent condensation problems on cold lines, to protect pipework installed in areas that are open to the elements or underground, and to prevent some thermal insulation materials from the ultraviolet rays of the sun.

The stone wool pipe thermal insulation material used in these applications material has a lengthwise slit along its middle to allow easy installation on pipework.

1) Should be smaller than 300 mm.2) Transverse seams - If external diameter <500 mm then galvanized wire - If external diameter ≥500 mm then steel strap3) External diameter

DUCTFLEX TDS DUCTFLEX APPLICATION DETAILSCONNECTION DETAILS

JOINT DETAILS

1- Flexible air ducts of the required length is pulled out of a hole of appropriate diameter drilled in the upper side wall of the box, and is carefully cut with a knife and scissors. A wire cutter is used to cut the spiral carrier wire. The leftover air duct is pressed into the box and stored for future use.2- The inner duct is revealed by scraping back the facing and the insulation. This step is not necessary in ducts with no insulation. The inner air duct is placed on the joint with a minimum overlap of 25 mm. The flexible duct and the fitting are wrapped twice with a special tape to ensure sealing. It is recommended that this tape be specially reinforced low and high temperature resistant aluminium foil. Then the assembly is firmly clamped.3- The scraped section of the facing and insulation are adjusted to cover the air duct. To avoid eventual separation, these sections are wrapped around twice with the same special tape. Clamps can be used alone or applied together with a tape.

1- The inner ducts of both flexible air ducts to be attached to each other are uncovered by scraping back the facing and the insulation. The inner ducts are placed on the sleeve joint selected according to their diameters with a minimum overlap of 25 mm.2- The perimeter of the flexible air duct and sleeve joint is wrapped twice with a special tape in order to ensure sealing. It is recommended that this tape be specially reinforced low and high temperature resistant aluminium foil. Then the assembly is firmly clamped.3- The outer coat and the insulation material scraped back are adjusted to cover the sleeve joint. Both air ducts are wrapped with a special tape at least twice without leaving any gaps between the insulation materials. Finally, the assembly is firmly clamped to ensure longevity of the joint.
