Request on update of the latest MFD software (Ver. 01.20.026) 2. Object Equipment:

Equipment Model RADAR JMR-9200, JMR-7200 ECDIS JAN-9201, JAN-7201 CONNING JAN-9202, JAN-7202 However, special Support ships are not covered by this technical information. Refer to the attached document "ECDIS Special Support Ship List".

3. Information 3.1 Software changes In this software version, added functions and improved contents are found in the attached

“Software changes list”. Please confirm the list.

1) MFD Application software. Please update to the following Application software version for IHO Presentation Library

(PL) 4.0 compliance with ECDIS chart display and for event improvement. MFD Application software Ver.01.20.026

2) VDR RCU software. Please update to the latest VDR RCU software (Ver 1.01.002) or later at the same time as updating the MFD Application software in order to improve the following events. ・Image transfer format from MFD is incomplete and VDR restarts. ・RMS information of MFD is not collected in VDR. VDR Software Ver 1.01.002

3.2 Work 1) MFD Application Software.

The work content varies depending on the application software version of the MFD that performs the update. Please prepare before visit by referring to the table below.

・Download the following MFD application software from the JRC Marine Service Web ,and save it on CD or USB memory.

MFD application Software Ver.01.20.026

・Prepare an update CD or USB for the number of MFD installed on the ship. ・Be sure to save the backup of the configuration file according to the “TECHNICAL INFOR-MATION NA17AL0118B” before updating the software. ・Update the software according to the attached document "Updating software of the MFD Application.pdf [7ZPNA4688]". After software update, reinstallation of ENC chart of ECDIS is necessary.

Reinstall chart：1~3 hours

The chart installation time depends on the number of cell contracts. (Note 1)

(Note 1) ENC chart reinstall time: About 1~3 hours

: About 30 minutes per 1 CD (the whole JAPAN) : About 13 hours (the whole world) About 1 hour per 100 charts that has been permitted.

If there are few equipment, estimated time for updating software is necessary by number of equipments.

2) Software combination of MFD and VDR

The combination of MFD and VDR software version causes the following contents. If VDR software is 01.00.021 or earlier, update VDR to the latest software.

MFD Software VDR Software Contents 01.20.026 or later (New software)

01.00.021 or earlier (Old software)

Since the image transfer formats of VDR and MFD are not matched, VDR restarts during image transfer.

01.10.323 or earlier (Old software)

01.01.002 or later (New software)

Since the D (destination) of the tag block output from the MFD is not VDR or blank, the RMS information of the MFD is not collected in VDR.

01.20.026 or later (New software)

01.01.002 or later (New software)

The above contents will be improved.

Step1：Confirming of latest Base CD, Update CD, and Cell permit(In case of using ENC)

When executing software update and re-installing ENC (Contain AVCS) charts, following items are required:

Step2：Confirming latest C-Map database DVD and license (in case of using C-Map)

In case of current software versions are V56 – V56A, after updating software, it is necessary to re-install C-Map

Step3：Updating the Software This section describes software update of this equipment.

Note When software update starts, the tasks that are active are automatically terminated. Complete the necessary operation such as saving of settings prior to the start of update.

*1 Do not use Flash drives which are password protected or encrypted.

When you want to use a USB flash memory to read or write a file, make sure in advance that the USB flash memory is not affected by a computer virus. If the display unit is infected with a virus, other equipment will also be infected, with the result that a trouble will occur.

Before removing the USB flash memory, check for the access lamp of the USB flash memory and make sure that it is not being accessed. If you remove the USB flash memory when it is accessed, data may be destroyed and a trouble may occur.

Procedure

Set the CD/DVD or USB flash memory containing the update data.

Click on the [Menu] button on the left toolbar. The menu is displayed.

Click on [Maintenance] - [Software Update] - [Software Update] on the menu.

The "Software Update" dialog box appears.

Click on the [Software Update] button.

A file selection dialog box appears.

From the [Drive] combo box, select the drive you want to store updated data.

From the file list, select the file MFD_Setup.exe. MFD_xx.xx.xxxx.exe is displayed in [File name].

Click on the [OK] button. The update content confirmation dialog box appears.

Confirm the contents and click on [OK].

Installation of the update is started and the following message is displayed.

Wait for a while until the installation completes.

Note This equipment may restart during installation.

When installation is completed, the following message is displayed.

Turn off the power of this equipment.

Restart this equipment. Start MFD, and confirm that the software version number has been updated in the [Software] tab by

selecting [Maintenance] - [System Information].

Step4：Import ECDIS Chart1

1) Start ECDIS software, and left-click “Chart Maintenance” from Task Menu.

2) Select [Import/Update charts] at the Chart Maintenance window.

3) Left-click ［ENC］button.

4) Left-click ［Manually］ button.

5) Select ” D:¥MFD¥system¥ECDIS_Chart_1”, then click OK button.

6) Left-click [Select] button. Comfirm that following chart are listed.

7) Left-click [Import/Update] button, then import charts.

Step5：Confirm display of ECDIS Chart1 1) Left click “ECDIS” in Task Menu, and start “ECDIS”.

2) Select MENU - [Chart] - [Select S-57/Chart...].

3) Select ”AA5C1AB1” from Select Chart dialog, then click OK button.

4) Select MENU - [Chart] - [Date-dependent View...], then input ”(UTC) 2014-08-27” in ”Start date and

Time”.

5) Select MENU - [View] - [Option] - [Chart Common].

9) Confirm that display of ECDIS Chart1.

If the display similar to the figure below is displayed, the chart update is done normally.

Step6：Re-install of charts

When updating to MFD Application Software , reinstallation of ECDIS chart is required. Refer to “Additional Manual for Chart Installation [7ZPNA4461＊]”

Step7：Sending of software update result

Fill in necessary matters on "MFD Software Maintenance Record" in the end of the manual, and send a

e-mail or a fax to JRC MARINE SERVICE DEPARTMENT (PRODUCT SUPPORT).
