Standard base units - Fitted look

Create a sleek and fitted look with New England and Valencia furniture. Our 620mm, 700mm, 800mm and 1000mm vanity units can be used in conjunction with floorstanding storage units and our 620mm and 500mm back to wall WC unit in a continuous run of furniture. A variety of worktop finishes and infill panels complete the look.

Fitted furniture maintains its popularity within the bathroom hiding unsightly exposed pipework and giving the bathroom a spacious and uncluttered appearance. We have cleverly designed our products so they can be used as stand alone units or fitted together.

Our popular 700mm, 800mm and 1000mm base units can be incorporated into runs of furniture alongside floorstanding storage units and our back to wall WC units.

The 19mm thick laminate worktops are supplied with

pre-finished edges in a variety of lengths, please see individual range for details.

The diagram opposite indicates a possible suggestion for your bathroom installation configuration. Many other configurations are possible including corner installations by utilising the separately available infill panels.

When planning your installation, pipework runs are an essential consideration.

Things to consider

One of the essential requirements for a fully fitted look are continuous worktops. A variety of sizes of are available; it is important that the correct sizes are selected for each installation.

Worktops are provided on the 300mm floor units, however, this is a painted finish rather than laminated and is more suited to stand alone configurations. If used in a run of furniture you may prefer to order a 624mm worktop and cut to size. Additional edge strips are provided with all worktops to allow edges to be neatly trimmed. When planning your installation, pipework runs are an essential consideration.

Electrical specification

Lighting Canopies: Lighting canopies can only be fitted to Valencia mirrors. Valencia lighting canopies with shaver sockets and heated mirror pads have been designed and independently tested for compliance to British Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994. Standards applicable are: BS EN60598-2-6:1995, BS EN60742:1996, BS EN61558-2-5:1998 and BS EN60335-2-30:1997. Lighting canopies are Class II double insulated - no earth connection required. Canopies are supplied with 500mm cable and should be connected to a fused 3 amp supply. Electrical connections should be made according to national wiring regulations. Installation by a competent electrician is advised. Canopies are suitable for use in bathrooms - but should not be used in a sauna or shower cubicle. Canopies should not be located where they will be directly splashed by shower spray, or such that they can be operated by someone whilst in the bath. Valencia lights use low voltage halogen (12 volt, 20 watt) type G4.

Shaver socket: Suitable for shavers and rechargeable toothbrushes. Maximum power output 20VA. The shaver socket is switched independently to the lights. It is recommended that the shaver socket is switched off when not in use.

Heated mirror pads: Operated automatically when the canopy lights are switched on using the IR sensor. No additional electrical connection needed.

CONTACTLESS FLUSH SENSOR KITContactless flush sensor kit

For use with all pneumatic concealed cisterns from Roper Rhodes. When the user waves their hand in front of the sensor it will initiate the flush. A short wave activates the reduced flush of the cistern, whilst holding your hand up slightly longer triggers a full flush. Sensor is powered by 4 x AA batteries and can be mounted behind a back to wall WC unit fascia or under a worktop or tiled wall where the cistern is located. A discreet black decal is included to stick on the front of the fascia or tiled surface to indcate sensor location.

Installation, connections and flexible supply hoses All of our taps are simple to install by either a competent DIYer or a qualified plumber. All connections use standard BSP (British Standard Pipe) sizing. Our range of basin mixers are supplied with high quality 350mm long stainless steel braided flexible hoses with 15mm compression fittings for easy installation.

Ceramic disc/ceramic cartridge technology All Roper Rhodes taps incorporate the latest highly reliable ceramic cartridge and ceramic disc valve technology. These precision components are all supplied by vastly experienced specialist manufacturers.

The Wessex range features quarter turn ceramic disc valves. These provide a rapid and easy to use on/off action when compared to conventional valves.

Designed for low pressure Many of our taps are fitted with a special low pressure ceramic cartridge that allows not only a simple to use hot, cold or mixed flow but enables both the flow rate and temperature to be limited if required. See chart overleaf.

Water pressure and flow rates explained Plumbing systems can sometimes suffer from poor flow rates. The UK is unique in that many homes are still using the more traditional, low pressure plumbing systems. This type of system is referred to as gravity fed, and is most commonly found in older properties.

At Roper Rhodes we have identified this problem and resolved it by engineering our taps so that many of them are suitable for use with low pressure systems. To help you identify which taps are suitable for low pressure systems, we have created the above chart for quick reference.

More recently built or renovated homes will often incorporate modern pressurised plumbing systems, and under these circumstances satisfactory flow rates are possible regardless of the type of tap fitted.

*bar (pressure)

A unit of measurement for pressure. 0.1bar is equal to a 1 metre head of water. In plumbing terms this means, for a gravity fed system, if the base height of your water tank is 1m above a tap, then you will have 0.1 bar of water pressure at the tap.

Low pressure systems These are more conventional types of plumbing systems, often referred to as gravity fed. Typically, you may have a cold water tank in your loft and a gravity fed hot water cylinder in your airing cupboard. Cold water usually varies in supply from either the mains or a cold water tank. This also affects the pressure and flow rate of your water

supply. If you have a gravity fed system, you must consider the issue of pressure, and the head of water (in metres) dictates the amount of pressure you can achieve in your plumbing system. There is a selection of taps suitable for this type of system and these are identified in our brochure with the LP1, LP2 and LP3 symbols.

If you are unsure, we recommend you seek professional advice from your plumber who will advise you on the type of plumbing system you have and the likely water pressures it can achieve. If pressures are too low even for our low pressure (LP) taps, you will be able to increase your water pressure using a suitable water pump, and again your plumber can advise you on this.

High pressure systems A typical high pressure system is where you may have a combination boiler, which heats water on demand. Another example is an unvented supply system where water is stored under pressure in a large cylinder. In both of these instances there should be sufficient pressure to give you an adequate flow rate with all our tap ranges.

Please note that all products marked low pressure are also suitable for high pressure plumbing systems. For further advice, please consult your plumber.

Zones for electrical equipment in close proximity to bath and showers Roper Rhodes backlit and LED mirrors have been independently tested for compliance with electrical equipment (safety) regulations. All illuminated mirrors are IP44 rated and are suitable for use in zone 2 and outside zones in the bathroom.

Important notes: Illuminated mirrors must be mounted so that the sensor switch is a minimum of 150mm from an adjacent wall or obstruction to ensure function of the sensor switch.

Electrical information for illuminated mirrors Illuminated mirrors have been designed and independently tested for compliance to electrical equipment (safety) regulations. Standards applicable to LED illuminated mirrors: BS EN 60598-1: 2004, BS EN 60598-2-1: 1989, EN 60529: 1992, AMD 1: 1993, AMD 2: 2000, Level IP44. The heated mirror pad energy consumption is approx. 0.046kw/h. LEDs have a life expectancy of 60,000 hours in continuous use. All light fittings are replaceable and are available from Roper Rhodes customer service. Standards applicable to backlit illuminated mirrors: EN 55015: 2001, BS EN 60598-1: 2000, AMD: 2001, BS EN 60598-2-1: 1989. All fluorescent lamps are replaceable and should be available from hardware stores. Please contact customer services in the event of difficulty.

450mm Electrical information for illuminated cabinets Illuminated aluminium, recessible, slimline and wooden cabinets have been designed and independently tested for compliance to electrical equipment (safety) regulations. Standards applicable to all lit aluminium, recessible and slimline cabinets, plus Vision and Instinct illuminated wooden cabinets: BS EN 60825-1:2004 & Amd 1, EN 60598-2-1:1989. Standards applicable to all cabinets with LED light fittings: BS EN 60825-1: 1994 inc Amd 1: 1996, Amd 2: 1997 & Amd 3: 2002 & Corrigendum 1 (Class 1 LED product) BS EN 60598-1: 2004, EN 60598-2-1: 1989, BS EN 60598-2-2.

LED’s have a life expectancy of 60,000 hours continuous use. All LED light fittings are replacable and are available through Roper Rhodes customer service. Illuminated aluminium, recessible, slimline and lit wooden cabinets are only suitable for use in outside zones according to the latest IEE regulations (see page 68 for more details). Illuminated aluminium, recessible and slimline cabinets are class 1 insulated and require an earth connection.

IMPORTANT: all cabinets featuring infrared technology must be mounted a minimum of 150mm from an adjacent wall or obstruction to ensure correct function of the infrared sensor. Please add 55mm to the overal height of the cabinets to allow for the LED light fitting where applicable.
