My Straight belt bin conveyor will not turn on. What could my problem be?

answer:The majority of the time that we receive this complaint there is an issue with the conveyor maintenance. Here are somethings to check if you have a #5 straight belt conveyor that won’t turn on.

• Is the belt adjusted correctly? The belt is driven by a smooth roll on the rear of the dry box. Proper belt tension is critical for proper belt operation. If the belt is too loose it will slip. To check tension measure vertical distance from bottom of sill to bottom of conveyor belt in front of second cross member from front of box. Measurement should be 7.62 cm (3 in.)

Question:

on both sides of conveyor. Use front adjusting bolts to tension both sides of conveyor as necessary. The measurement from the bottom of the belt to the top of cross member should be 3”. Refer to pictures below.

• Check for material buildup on rollers that can cause slippage. Make sure that rollers are clean. Pressure wash rollers if you find buildup.

• Weather conditions such as frost/ice, as well as humidity in the summer can also cause slippage. As a best practice always run the conveyors before loading the bin with product.

• Maybe your conveyor speed encoder is not reading correctly. This will throw a code if the conveyor valve is open, but zero speed is detected. Check electrical connections. The encoder is located on the front roller on the right side of the bin.

• Make sure your bin chaining settings are correct.

• If you are spreading a prescription your prescription may not calling for the bin to turn on in the area of the field you are in.

To provide additional support for the 2020 spraying season, John Deere will be providing extended limited basic warranty for sprayers equipped with ExactApply as indicated here:

This additional warranty ONLY applies to ExactApply components. All standard warranty terms apply, and proper winterization and maintenance are required (see Operators Manual for details).

A letter will be sent to customers with ExactApply equipped sprayers in January 2020 explaining the warranty extension program. Please contact Brian Wendricks regarding any questions about this warranty extension program.

If you aren’t sure if your display has been updated, contact the Mid-State Solutions Center or the Precision Ag Hotline, and we can check for you.

4640 displays are now compatible with the Original GreenStar Emulator. This allows for 4640’s to control the AutoTrac valves in ’00, ’10, and ’20 series tractors. The 4640 will NOT work in older sprayers that require the Original GreenStar for rate control.

With the first update in 2020 DataSync will be included in base. This will now stream data to the Operations Center like the 2630’s did without the need for the Premium 3.0 activation or subscription.

technology updateWith harvest season almost wrapping up I’d like to take the time to update you on a few new things in the world of John Deere technology.

Deere has released their semi-annual update for their displays and receivers. Going forward, they will be changing that to three updates per year. The approximate time line for future updates is March, July and November. Going forward, the updates will be for the Gen4 display family and Starfire 6000’s. An update for Starfire 3000’s in August that will be required for future operation. Future software updates for the 2630 and Starfire 3000 will only target bug fixes as they are done adding features to those two products.

Here are some of the improvements and new features released for the Gen4 displays.

When you have your AutoTrac Pie with just two pieces lit, it will no longer beep when you cross a track. This can be very helpful when finishing up a

field and heading back to the exit or doing the headlands in a field that already has established guidance lines.

There is also an additional map page added that brings back a full screen map like was present in the 2630’s. You can also click on any mapping window and launch a full screen map
