Some of you may not have known that I was called away to the hospital as they thought my sister-in-law was not going to pull through. Thankfully she did, and is now home recuperating. But her husband, Bob, is in his last days in palliative care and I don’t know how things will be for her in her weakened state. I thank you for your understanding when the meeting had to be adjusted at the last minute. I like to have some normal things in my life right now so I still try to come to the meeting since the guild does rejuvenate me. The nominating committee is working hard to fill the vacant positions. Please consider taking on one of the positions . There is no experience necessary and there are always others to help out who have done that job before. At this point all the people have finished their term so every position is available; except for president as Cheryl C will be moving up to that position. Thank you to the people who have volunteered to stay on for another year, we appreciate this very much and may accept you very generous offer if someone else does not step up to the plate. Remember your guild can only be as good as the people behind it. Thanks for your consideration in taking on one of the vacant positions. The new quilt show committee will also be asking for volunteers for our show next year so please put your name down for one of these spots also. On a lighter note I would like to remind you to bring in any items you have made over the last couple of months for the CQA goody box. I will be sending it off the first part of April. Have fun quilting all those special projects you have on the go. Pretty soon winter will be over and you will want to be out in the garden. News Flash! The consensus of the survey is: the newsletter will be mailed out to people who check off the box on the membership form for mail out or you can receive it by e-mail. There will not be an extra charge for this. We will continue with treats but will ask that people take one or two only. Thanks for your co-operation. See you next month. Happy quilting, Yvonne

Hi Bunny,

Just a quick note to let you know that we had 87 quilts in the donation bags that were given recently. I split them between the 2 shelters as well as our Outreach program. Thus far in 2008 we have given out 6, which leaves us with 89 quilts as we had some left over. This is truly appreciated. The last quilt that I gave out went to a young woman/girl (17 years old) that was abandoned by her mother. Her younger siblings ended up in CAS care. She chose a quilt with lots of purple as it was her favorite colour.

You had asked a question while I was with your fellow quilters about women leaving many times. One thing that I forgot to mention was that a lot of women and children go to family, friends etc. before approaching a shelter. They usually discover that this doesn’t work as partner still has access. If you have any other ques-tions feel free to ask.

Take care

Deb
