REGIONAL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP The race director of the Longleaf Triathlon is extremely excited about hosting this year’s Club Championship for our region. They want to bring as many clubs to the race as possible so as an incentive they are offering a $10 discount to ANY participant who registers as a member of one of our Florida clubs. This discount is good for both the Sprint as well as the Olympic Distance race (even though only the Olympic distance partici-pants will be scored for points). To get the discount please use the Invitation Code “FLCLUB” on the first page of registration on IMAth-lete. Each participant MUST select a club from the pulldown menu in order to be registered under your club. Each club will submit a roster by September 15

th which will be cross referenced against the IMAthlete

registration list. Here’s the link to the registration site… https://www.imathlete.com/events/EventReg/EventReg_SelectType.aspx?fEID=12544&fNew=1

The host hotel (Homewood Suites) is also offering special group rates for club members. They can be reached at 727-819-1000 Please mention the Longleaf Triathlon when making your reservations. They will also host a special event for club members on Saturday October 13

th (race is Sunday) for clubs to interact

Bike Ride Safety

A special note to team members riding in groups. This is particularly impor-

tant for those riding on the suncoast or other narrow bike paths where bike traf-

fic flows in both directions on the same path. It is imperative that training

groups ride single file. Riding two or three across is not safe.

A story was recently told to me about a team member riding with a group

were coming up to another riding group coincidentally with a team psych mem-

ber. One group was riding two abreast and when the two packs passed by each

other, elbows of riders from one group nearly nicked the elbow of another rider.

Single file riding is an example of good etiquette is good safety and good

safety is good etiquette. ………..El Fuego the Skull

The 2013 St. Pete Beach Classic is holding a competition among inter-

ested area clubs and their supporters! Here’s how it works – When one

of your members or supporters registers to run in any one of our com-

petitions (Half-marathon, 10K, 5K, Duo, Marathon Challenge or Kids

Dashes), they will have the opportunity to select the name of a partici-

pating club from a drop-down menu. The club with the most entries

will receive a $250 donation from the Classic!! To include your club in

the competition, please indicate your desire to participate and you will

be added to the drop-down list!! Best of luck and thank you for your

support of the St. Pete Beach Classic!! Al Alan P. Johnson

Here's how it works - when you register for any of our races on line

they'll be an optional drop down question as to which club you support.

Click there, select Team Psych, and continue with the registration.

When on-line closes (1/13/13), I'll down load the entries and the club

with the most votes wins!

Anyone who enters can vote for your club, they don't have to be a

member - so go out and recruit supporters!

I'm committing to a minimum of $250 donation for the winning club,

but I hope to raise that and possibly give a runner-up prize if I get

enough clubs to participate. Right now I have 4.

I'll have Team Psyche in the drop-down this afternoon.

Thanks for participating, best of luck!!

T Shirt Rating: This event fails in the typical t-shirt rating as we did not get

a t-shirt…….we got a cycling jersey! With their great looking logo on the

front and me or you wearing it, I’m going to give this a five skull rating.

If you don't sign up for this event in 2013, you are a fool!
