WELCOME MESSAGE
FINA PRESIDENT
It is my pleasure to present you the 22nd FINA World Junior
Diving Championships to be held from July 23-29 in Kyiv,
Ukraine.
This competition, which was last held two years ago in Kazan
Russia, will showcase an artistic, spectacular and breath-taking
discipline which has developed tremendously over the recent years: The inclusion of
the Team Event and the mixed events in the World Championships Programme, the
popularity of the yearly FINA Diving World Series and the Grand Prix, the well-
attended FINA Judges Schools and Clinics are some of the numerous examples of this
development.
The FINA World Junior Diving Championships play a critical role within this context:
this event gives a unique opportunity to the youngest talents to be revealed and creates
awareness among the youth about this beautiful and highly technical discipline.
Most importantly, this event is a qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games, to be held in
Buenos Aires (ARG) in October this year.
The competition will be held for the first time in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv this summer
and
I am sure that with the support of spectators, media representatives and sponsors, these
championships will be very successful and will constitute a milestone in the history of
the competition.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the Ukrainian
Diving Federation for the tremendous work and full commitment in organising the 22nd
FINA World Junior Diving Championships in this vibrant and young city.
I wish the best of luck to all the participants!
Dr. Julio C. Maglione
FINA President
