I am originally from a small city upstate New York called Corning.
I first went to college at Rochester Institute of Technology for mechanical engineering
I then went to SUNY Oswego for Technology Education
I am currently a 7th grade middle school teacher at Sequoya Middle school in the Sachem School District.

Very unaware of how to use the technologies I see around me in the classroom.
PowerPoint was the best technology for improving my lessons in the classroom.
Much more comfortable attempting to use technologies that once looked too complicated
More caught up on vocab (blogs)
Aware of many new technologies I can use to assist in my students learning

Transitions started as a tool elementary students could use to help ease their anxiety from moving up into a new school.
This website answered popular questions and helped them prepare for success.
The Transitions website eventually became a place that middle school students transitioning into high school could use also.
Advice was gathered from 6th and 9th grade students in order to find out what the major topics were.

I think my biggest success was my ability to apply photography in the classroom. I am already using my digital camera in class in order to assist me in my explanations and document student work. Afterwards I can put the pictures together and make a slideshow that the students can really appreciate. Also the slideshow would be great for introducing new material to my students next semester.

This semester I would like to spend more time learning how to make websites.
In order to help understand websites I hope to make one that I will be able to use in my classroom.
If not a web quest, Maybe my own personal Mr. VanKurin’s Website
I would also like to learn about how to use photography and video in the classroom.
I have noticed that students are very visual and I would love to incorporate more into my instruction, without PowerPoint or computers for every student.
