IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM After observations of the skate floor, input

from Nicole, and team discussions, team two came up with the following target problems:

* Decrease the accident rate of skaters.

* Identify ways to standardise and maintain consistent floor guard behaviour.

* Make Skate World less legally liable.

PROJECT MISSION Mission: Generate, design and develop solutions

to floor guard behaviour and customer safety issues, and provide a plan for evaluating the implementation of these solutions.

  Objectives:

1. Devise effective, efficient and practical solutions

2. Decrease the accident rate of skaters3. Identify ways to standardise and maintain

consistent floor guard behaviour4. Provide legal safeguards for the client’s

organisation

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS As a team, 21

possible solutions were generated.

These were brought to the client for ranking & selection.

11 solutions were selected by the client.

SOLUTIONS CHOSEN From the 11 possible solutions, 4

were selected as ideal for our team to work on.

PLANNING & SCHEDULING Yoon Jeon & Jesse Gentile created a

work breakdown structure and a semester long calendar to guide team 2 in the development of the four solutions.

SCOPE & CALENDAR ADJUSTED As the semester moved along, team two

realized the scope of the project was too large for the time available.

After consultation with the client, the project manager scaled back the scope of the project to the incentive and feedback solution.

INTERVIEWING FLOOR GUARDS At least seven floor

guards were interviewed to discover what motivated them and what incentives they would most appreciate.

From these, several incentives were selected for review by Nicole.

FEEDBACK SYSTEM IDEAS A sketch for a

feedback board was drawn up.

The board and incentive ideas were brought to Nicole for selection & review.

FINAL CALENDAR

FORMATIVE FEEDBACK & OBSERVATION The client tested

the prototypes for two weeks.

Team two made observations of staff using or not using the feedback system

FINAL PRODUCT Following input from the client and

feedback, the final product was established.

No revisions were needed for the feedback notepads.

Minor changes were made to the motivation board.
